I think stars should just wipe their asses with their $100 notes and get over it. Everything has two sides, Twitter makes stars within a second, JB and OD for example heavily benefit from SM and then yes there is the negative comments. So what get over it. People have opinions, when you're a celeb you put yourself out there to be judged it comes with the job. Besides most stars are full of shit anyway, being controversial is so so so much better for the career than being ignored. Having fans on one site and haters on the other is a PR dream, it keeps the net buzzing and your name around 24/7, again JB and OD heavily benefit from that cause teenage girls love nothing more than the "us against the world" feeling haters give them, it makes them even more obsessed. E.g look at Harry's clip, the sole purpose of that is alarm their little monsters (I'm sure OD fans have a name too but I don't know it sorry) to sent tons and tons of nice twitter comments to pitty him. It's all a charade. they don't really want it to stop. the last thing a celeb or his team want is having people being indifferent towards them.
Obviously there are comments that go too far, like the stuff Tom Daley got when he didn't do so well the other day or some kid of a celeb being mocked for having leukaemia, that's out of order but even then one should take it with a pinch of salt cause it's just some stupid kid craving attention.
Just grow a pair celebs or get out of the game.

I really hate this impression that celebrities "put themselves out there" for this sort of negative attention. That's like saying, if you leave your car unlocked, you shouldn't be upset if someone steals shit out of it. Because of the unpredictable nature of people, especially people on the internet, not ALL celebrities get this kind of attention. Some do, but that should not implicate that they deserve it simply for being famous. We are all people, and regardless of our professions, we all have our sensitive issues.

Especially sensitive are the cases of these overnight successes and teen idols--they get famous in an INSTANT, instead of slowly becoming accustomed to the lifestyle, and they get all of this overwhelming attention poured upon them, oftentimes without their own choice in the matter--Justin Bieber's mother could not possibly have predicted that when she uploaded videos of her son clanging around that now, in 2012, he'd be the biggest recording artist in the world. The boys from One Direction were entirely unknown two years ago. That's a LOT to get used to in a very short amount of time. Yes, Harry's clip is sort of funny, but his emotions are real, and I don't begrudge him crying one bit.

And whether or not media attention helps their careers is highly debatable. It remains to be seen what kind of staying power One Direction and Justin Bieber have. They could all be entirely unheard of by 2015, when a new batch of teens sprouts up as this batch enters early adulthood. Justin Bieber actually handles his criticism by trying to play into the jokes--he's perfectly aware that he is a slender, high-voiced, androgynous (though less and less, now) boy, and he's been in commercials and tweeted regarding those very issues.

Kristen Stewart is another matter, and one where I agree that she should just get the fuck out of her profession, because she sure makes an effort to show how much she hates it.

You can be upset but you only have yourself to blame just like when you wanna be a popstar and then whine about how some people don't like you.


Nobody is forced to being a star so I don't get the point. Nobody put the pen in their hand and lead it over the contract papers.
If you arguing whether or not young teens can handle the pressure of stardom then that's a different question and I would that argue that "positive things" like endless cashflow and people telling you you're all that are what corrupts and make them big headed all that sort of stuff that creates the Britney Spears and the Nick Carters in the world.

It's such a cheap attempt to soften Harry who always comes across as a massive dick in the media with his constant whoring. As if he really sits crying on his bed wondering why some people don't like him.

One doesn't really have anything to do with the other though. I said being controversial helps you being a hot topic on the net. Forums and blogs flow over with heated debates. That's only a good thing. Of course it won't help you stay famous forever cause everything gets boring at some point, you have to resort to other means if you wanna stand the test of time (like actually being talented, making decent music etc. something a lot of stars struggle with funny enough). If Bieber takes the negative comments and spins them around then fair enough but it just shows how much impact being controversial can have and how it's a crucial part of ones image.
