Full Version: Christina Aguilera - new single august 2012
fmforums > discussion forums > music
Andy Scott Lee
Her new single is called Your Body and will be produced by Max Martin.

We are getting it in early August 2012 with the album expected to follow later in the year.

Wonder if it will fair better than Bionic did? although the stupid Lady Gaga war killed that era for Christina. Thing is, it looks like Lady Gaga is also planning on releasing her new album at the same time as Christina.

I thought it being shit killed it?

Nah it was the Gaga comparisons along with poor promotion decisions. The standard album was alright, or awesome (in my opinion) if you got the deluxe version.

"Your Body" isn't getting me going, and the last amazing vocals i remember of her was Lift Me Up for Hope For Haiti, everything since has seemed poor, like she's winging it.
Sparklebabe
So is Lady Gaga bringing out a new album this year then?

ilovesidney
Bionic is a good album they should have just made it shorter and change the tracklist about. The deluxe songs were better than some of the standard edition songs.

Be looking forward to see what Christina will be bringing out next, hopefully not some rehashed dance song.
BGNB2005
Gaga is bringing a new album out in the Autumn, as far as I know.

Bionic was poor. Two or three tracks were good but otherwise it was bad. Nothing else killed it except for the album itself.
britney_OC
It being Max Martin produced it's bound to be good! He basically owns the pop world again now!

'Your Body' leaked in full today

As mentioned in the article, her voice doesnt sound the best it's been to be honest. Will take a few listens to enjoy it to the max but im sure I'll eventually warm to it smile.gif

I'm one very happy Christina fan, great vocals over an awesome beat and Dirrty lyrics!
CyanIsland
Hmm, hot on the heels of Mariah's Triumphant, I'd say Christina's got the better song, but I too don't like her voice, she sounds rough as hell! Mariah's got her licked on vocals.

Were we listening to the same tracks? Even from this snippet Christina slays Mariah

That is such an awful photo lol_2.gif Hopefully she's saw these photos and dressing more appropriately.

Finally found a working link, and i kinda wish i hadn't.

Final version is epic, love it!
Benzai
it's really not.

It's not a bad song, but it's a bad choice for a comeback single.

edit: well i hope it's a bad choice of comeback single, it might be the best of an average bunch but i'm hoping....
ilovesidney
Not Epic... It's an good track, I really hope it does well for her though
saintly_boy
yawn1.gif I just heard the explicit version in which she screeches "all I wanna do is fuck your body"

So eloquent.

I wish she would give up on being Madonna 2.0, this whole sexual nymph thing she's been dragging out for 10 years as some kind of ode to female sexuality got tired before it even started.

She has an amazing voice and its wasted on songs like this.

TBF I didn't listen the whole way through so it might be an alright song.
DirrtY!
Hit!
Christina is back!!!

This is better imo:

Where's the UK download..!?
MrXtina01
Great comeback single!!! My girl is gonna slay the charts! UK release isn't until November, I'm raging yet excited beyond belief at the same time! As for Bionic... Completely underrated album, wasn't given a chance at all! LOTUS will make up for that though! Sooooooooo excited for this era! Love Christina so much biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
matt_67
I don't know why music labels have recently started delaying UK releases, sometimes by quite a long time.
It'll be interesting to see whether delaying it so long does more harm than good. I think a lot of people who are interested in the single won't wait that long to download it.
I'm guessing we'll get an X Factor performance if it's being delayed that long.

Christina Had one great album being "Stripped"

Bionic had a few good tracks.

Back to Basics was quite forgettable, though "HURT" one my personal favourite of hers.

She has a lot riding on this album.

Video looks like its going to be great...

Besides turning off Lucille Ball, by not delivering anything that could be compared to anything from Stripped.

30 second clip of Blank Page the apparent follow up to Your Body and OMFG its epic

Cannot wait to hear Christina singing it.

In all honesty, i'd rather her Sia's recording.

Stripped was superb, the tracklisting and the interludes and the mix of songs, she really found herself with that record. Then she came back with Back to Basics and I never really bought into it and was disappointed at the time, but didn't begrudge her of having a new direction to her discography.

Never bought Bionic as the previews did nothing for me, didn't mind 'Not Myself Tonight' and 'You Lost Me' had some links to her at her best. Now to the present, I just don't get it at all shaky.gif I don't understand the sound she is going for, the look she is trying to get across (all the coloured streaks in her hair etc) it just all seems diluted and as if no one knows what to do with her, pop purgatory if you will. All just seems like that effort to go from teen pop star to fully fledged, credible artist are really back tracking now - she deserves better. But hey, doubt she'd be doing it if she weren't feeling it.
sammyyummy
i dont like the song
it sounds immensely generic.
she sings as if she's aware of this and tries to compensate for the weakness of the song by her over the top singing

such a shame as Aguilera is the best singer of her generation
hope she manages a certain amount of commercial success here.
also, while the voice is quite entertaining thanks to surprisingly, blake,
the show is really more about the judges than it is about the singers.

sadly, any singer who joins such a show follows the unfortunate template pioneered by paula abdul and brandy (has been singers)

30 second previews are out. All sound incredible.

I think people need to get over the fact that 'Stripped' will never be repeated. Christina reinvents herself with every album... Unlike Rihanna, Pink, Katy and whatever other shite is in the charts... They all release the same shite constantly, yes they are selling records, but I'd rather have quality over quantity personally. Christina has never disappointed on any record she has made. And yes, I also mean 'Bionic'. Great album that was never given s chance. 'Lotus' will in my mind, no doubt be an outstanding record. 'Your Body' is a great pop record to set the tone of the album, as well as 'Blank Page' which is now available to listen to online. She has done an amazing job of this track. She will never please everyone, I understand that, but there's no denying she is a talent to be reckoned with. I For one, as a true fan, will certainly stand by her throughout her entire career! Whether she becomes a "hasbeen" or not.

Why can't Stripped be repeated? It's not uncommon for artists to release albums that surpass or at least somewhat comparable to their best work. As for "reinvents herself every album" and "same shite constantly", pot and kettle really if you look at Dirrty, Still Dirrty, Not Myself Tonight, Woohoo, Fuck Your Body, Nasty Naughty Boy, Desnudate, Sex For Breakfast.

With regards to quality/quantity, i love her Bionic and Back To Basics but they were filled with self indulgent fillers and intro's. BTB could have done without the intro, the pathetic F.U.S.S., Thank You and The Right Man making it one disc of brilliance. Bionic standard edition was a mess. They should have taken off Love&Glamour, Glam, Prima Donna, Morning Dessert, Sex For Breakfast, the fucking ridiculous My Heart and replaced them with the deluxe edition tracks, again making a stunning album.

It's also wrong to be using Aguilera as a benchmark for Quality/Quantity. Firstly because quality of music is subjective and secondly because there is nothing to stop an album of quality from selling huge quantities.
britney_OC
Benzai my ol' buddy how are ya? I totally agree with all you mentioned below! I really like Lotus btw, although looking forward to downloading a high quality version, legally of course smile.gif

However my main problem with Christina is how long it takes for her to release albums, she becomes irrelevant in the music business and looses her spot due to the length of time spent in-between albums. And I understand the quality over quantity quote can well be used now, but I think if she had of done this right throughout the years she'd have been flying! I mean Stripped was out in 2002, B2B 4 years later in 2006, Bionic took another 4 years to be released!

When you compare this to Rihanna who had 4 albums out between 2006-2010 and has had (including Unapolagethic being released in 2 weeks) 7 albums out in 8 years being in the business, and also being one of the most relevant music artists and credible to boot. Now in fairness apart from the tracks Rihanna released the rest are a bit shite, but at least she has those really good songs to release and does well with them!

I love Your Body and Blank Page. Really looking forward to hearing this album, not listening to it until I receive my copy.

I think this will sell like Bionic did though. Your Body has only been a moderate success, and there's been very little promotion. It doesn't even seem like the retailers are bothered. Not many have updated the tracklisting on their websites, and haven't made clear whether it's the deluxe edition or not (I got my deluxe edition from Asda for £10, free delivery).

My favourites are the slower songs, especially Ceasefire. Love it!

But also like Sing For Me, Just A Fool, light up the sky, empty words, let there be love, circles and shut up.

Not gone on army of me, around the world, red hot kinda love or maake the world move!

Whaddup Stace?......The only problem i have with her taking so long to produce an album is that she spends most of the time bigging it up and talking about how it's taking so long because she's perfecting it and then it's just anticlimactic because like you say she's taken 4 years between her last few albums and ultimately produced albums that whilst they contain exceptional tracks, are nothing stunning or out of the ordinary in their complete form.

I've only listened to the few that are on her youtube account and right now, can't remember the melody or lyrics of any of them.
