The
2012 UEFA European Football Championship, commonly referred to as
Euro 2012, will be the 14th
European Championship for
national football teams organised by
UEFA. The final tournament will be hosted by Poland and Ukraine between 8 June and 1 July 2012.
I thought about adding more choices (only when my national team plays, only when my team reaches the final, etc.) but a simple and ruthless yes/no seemed more informative

I'll dip in and out of the games I'm interested in.
I read the other day that the FA have handed back more than half their ticket allocation as England fans weren't buying them! I have a sneaky feeling that this tournament is either going to be outstanding or a complete flop with racism and/or violence.
Yes, in Donetsk and Kiev. I suspect that the potential for racism and violence had been sensationalised, but I hope I'm not proven wrong.

Same here. not a sports guy but I like a good friendly competition that brings the nations together.
Obviously I am not British so that helps here.
Avoiding as much as physically possible. I quite like the advert but that's as far as my interest goes.

I keep thinking the advert for Big Brother is for the football. Hunky men at the start all glistening with sweat.

Nope.
I love sport, especially rugby and tennis (am watching the French Open as I type) and I can't wait for the Olympics and Wimbledon
For some reason football just doesn't do a thing for me.

Plenty of sport for summer now - Euro 2012 leads up to Tour de France and that leads up to the Olympics. I shall be glued to the TV til the middle of August.

I'll be betting on things with better odds.
Correct scores and golascorers combined, name the finalists etc.

Obviously. Will watch as many as possible. Almost all of them in fact. I've only got two things planned during the tournament and one of those days no football is played

Is it just me being cynical, or was the impromptu Team England visit to Auschwitz this afternoon just a MASSIVE PR opportunity??

Of course it was "orchestrated" but only because the majority of all the teams participating have made trips either there or to one of the other camps. The German team went before we did and I can assure you that was a much bigger deal than us going. Whenever there's a major tournament like this they always get the teams to trudge round some local historical spot.

Auschwitz is hardly going to do them any good though. Talk about mental anguish when they should be relaxing.

Is this right?? I haven't been aware of this.

I just felt it was a brazen attempt to up Team ENgland's anti-racism cred...
Er, jumbler whenever famous people are in that area, they always visit Auschwitz, whether they really want to or not. The media most likely would have had a go if they hadn't gone. And Nosferatu is also correct in that teams are encouraged to pay respects to/go around and get involved in the local community in some regard.
As for Euro 2012, watching some of the games, tbh I had zero interest in Poland v Greece as those are two teams who don't produce a lot of interesting football (Greece are boring as fuck every time I've seen em). Russia v Czechs was good though.

Nope, not the case at all, to the extent that the teams visting Auschwitz and other camps have had those trips on their official itenary well in advance of the tournament starting. And even if it were just a publicity stunt, wouldn't it have been a pretty pointless one given the
German team visited the site the day before (or whenever it was)?
