Civil partners go public with £1m win

Hope they don't have all the golddiggers trying to split them up!

Good luck to them.

Have to say well done to them, and the fact they re going to stay in work and figure out what to do for a year is very smart. A million is probably not enough to quit a job I don't think, unless you plan on buying a business or something.

Usually you see straights that win blow it all and end up on some documentary a few years later completely broke*. Us gayers are obviously very smart.

I don't play the lottery, but if I did and if I won (BIG!) then I would stay annonymous.
Those two will get no peace from charities, financial planners, family, friends, ... sad.gif
(Can't stay anonymous from the taxman though.)

Capital won in UK official lotteries is Tax Free Parsy. Of course any income achieved by investing it is taxed though. In theory a winner placing the entire winnings in an account paying no interest need not tell HMRC (IRS) anything.

Why can't journalists refer to them as husbands?

Well at least the media have stopped writing "married" in quotation marks like they used to do. I wrote to telextext a few years ago about them doing that. I pointed out that if they can't bring themselves to write the word without quotations then they should just write civil partnered instead. furious.gif

I suppose technically they have a cop-out that 'there is no gay marriage'. Yet. unsure.gif
