Have you always wanted to know what makes your fellow FMF-ers tick?? How they feel about something?? What they like or dislike??
Well, now you can
Send me your suggestions for a poll in a PM and next week's Easy Weekly Poll could be your question
A few rules:
- This is meant to be fun, so no difficult, controversial or political questions.
- Try and limit the number of options
Don't overanalyse the question or yourself, whether you go to church or temple once a year or weekly, whether it's organised religion or just a feeling, you know yourself, so select the answer that feels right.

I lack the balls to be totally devoid of a deity, but I'm mostly non-religious. Every once in a while, I ask God to do something (never in regard to myself--only to others), or thank Him when things go well. But serendipity is where I prefer to find meaning.

Not for me personally, but it's nice that for some people out there they have something to fall onto to help them through tough times.
I just feel bad for the fact that when they get to the end if their life they'll realise it has been a waste of time and they will just sigh, "shit"

I'm in no way religious. However, I would suggest that I'm spiritual, minus the religious side.
I.E. that I will often meditate, believe in the flow of energy within the body, and have no problems with stuff like alternative medicines.
But a fixed religion with a deity and beliefs... Nope. Never have been, and never will.

I listen to Bible readings at night on TWR which sends me to sleep. Some of the things God did in the Old Testament is most enlightening. He is like Hitler for the ancient times!

Not religious at all, but spiritual. I've been practicing meditation twice a day for over 20 years.
I do believe in a higher consciousness which is available to everyone if we will only stop obsessing with our personal desires and set ourselves free from all of that. I also believe that Christ was real and was a pretty smart guy free of a lot of common baggage (had no iPhone) and could understand the meaning of life more clearly (just don't interpret the words attributed to him too literally).
I didn't vote because there wasn't a "spiritual, but not religious" option.

You assume that that being was fully in control of the religion he 'started'.

I'm starting to believe that God and religion are not mutually dependent. Or even that one directs the other.

Well he wrote the Bible didn't he, that where all the hypocrisy is.
For me it's one of those cases where there's no proof either way so I have no real opinion on the subject.
No one can ever prove to me that God exists, but at the same time no one can prove that he doesn't exist either.
I do not follow any religion but I hold nothing against anyone who does.

Well, God DID write the bible..every word was directed from Him through his followers and every translation was also guided by Him. Hence the tyrannical and blind following of it's every word by it's readers. Unless it's about not mixing different types of cloth together or eating shellfish. THAT'S not usually followed too closely. Stuff about gay folks being bad, conversely, usually is.
I was a Christian untill about four years ago so at least I can argue both sides fairly well. Now i just like WILLIES!!!

Actually, I agree with both.

The second one specifically, because the way that the Bible was written was similar to an enormous ancient WIki-Project.
To say that "the Bible is the unequivocal word of God" would be crazy, even for me. It cannot be proven - mainly because the Bible was written over centuries. Besides which, it hardly follows a central narrative, or theme - it's more like a massive anthology, covering various themes, history, ancient religious law. Particularly the Old Testament.
The New Testament, less so. But even then, it was still written by various followers over many centuries. It's obvious how wide an interpretation could be given.

I'm not sure how I feel about them. The founding of their religion is laughable and they have very questionable views on race, sexuality, and us gays. But then they're spun to be so sweet and polite. Mitt Romney's father, for example, actually refused to back racist policies during the Civil Rights movement, despite HEAVY reprimands from his church, which is actually pretty ballsy. If only his son had such a spine.
