I'm really surprised that there wasn't a specific topic for this game, actually!
SO excited - it has been far too long since 47 was last rolled out. Trailers below!
This footage is a little old now (Oct 11) but shows the initial linear training level with a lot of impressive new gameplay elements not present in the previous games. The graphics are amazing to boot:
The game features an 'instinct' system, similar in style to Assassin's Creed's Eagle Vision, which allows 47 to predict the route of his targets to aid with stealth. Combat has been given a boost with a 'paint and shoot' mechanic similar to Red Dead's Dead Eye mode. The usage of such tools are restricted a meter which builds based on certain actions the player performs.
The final game will feature the same style open-world type levels as in the previous iterations with several different approaches to taking out your target.
More media is finally incoming!! Some spoilers, though they relate to the beginning of the game:
I'm SO excited for this game - it ranks up there for me with ME3 and the latest Tomb Raider Reboot as one of 2012s biggest releases.

I've never played a Hitman game before so I don't really feel the buzz for this yet. I'll wait and see what reviews are like.

Oh it was a brilliant game series - I still don't understand why IO were persevering with the Kane & Lynch series instead of just going back to this. But hopefully this will be all the better for the delay

I love the Hitman series but I am not excited about this game at all. Hitman is about sandbox freedom, slow-paced exploration, observation and careful execution of your plan, in pursuit of the elusive Silent Assassin rank. This game just seems like too much of a departure from the tone and style of the series and from what I've read appears to be a linear set-piece fest. Agent 47 vs a helicopter? What?
Plus they dropped Jesper Kyd, whose music was a huge part of the atmosphere of the previous games.
I'll certainly keep an eye on its development and read the reviews with interest, particularly critiques from long-time fans. But I think I'll only buy it when it comes down in price, which is shame because I was damn excited about Blood Money and Contracts when they were released. Perhaps the other Hitman game that Squeenix Montreal are working on will be more in keeping with the style of the previous games...

This has been the general feedback about the level shown, but it's supposed to be a linear level just to get you used to the controls. Remember 'Death of a Showman' in Blood Money? Terribly linear.
I have my own reservations about the new composer though. That and David Bateson/Viv Mckee not returning to voice 47/Diana were big issues for me but it seems their replacements are capable enough.

That's the least of what they're doing with Diana that I have issues with. I'll say no more just in case.

If i bought this would i be able to understand the story, considering i haven't played any of the other Hitman games?
I think i've played a little of the one on ps2 where you had to kill a fat nightclub owner, but games like this make me panic and i don't dare do anything

Ahh, Kelly, was it this?
Yea, the story is very straight forward -
* ultimate killer clone 47 is created from the seed of several men, who you end up unknowingly killing in the first game * After finding out about the truth of his origins and what he was called on to do, he goes dark and takes up a life of peace at a church, only for the calm to be shattered when his vicar friend is captured by people wanting to get him back in the business. It works! * Back to work - 47 is nearly killed when the agency he works for starts to be attacked by a rival agency. He kills off the head of the enemy company and goes into hiding which his old agency sets themselves back up.
There, you're up to date It's more about the gameplay than the story, though this one is focusing mainly on the relationship between 47 and Diana - his handler and the closest thing to a friend he has.

I've never played a Hitman game before, but I'm hoping to have a job soon, and then hopefully, will go on a crazy shopping spree with money that I'm just using to live off until I have a job again.
Anywho, with that speel over, is this the kinda game do you reckon that I could play and enjoy without having played any previous installments of it? I've always liked the look of it, but never played any before, because to be honest, I kinda think it would scare me pretty easily, but I reckon it is time to man up a bit....maybe.

Oh it isn't scary - it does have some tense moments though when you make people suspicious! It's very accessible and you have several options available for each contract so it has tonnes of replayability, even just from the main game. Now with the online 'Contracts' mode revealed, you could be playing it for aaaages

Ahh, Kelly, was it this?
Yeah that was the level. I don't think i completed it as well as that video though...I'm not sure if i even completed it.
The tension in these games is too much for me, i wont dare do anything because i get scared I'm going to mess it up. If you have to follow someone and kill them when there's no one around, I'll literally follow them for about half an hour until I'm 100% sure no one can see. i try and be a silent assassin but end up getting caught and having to just shoot everyone which makes assassin games kinda pointless.
Its the female assassins in the trailer that have got me interested. Do you think they're actually in the game?

Sep 19 2012, 22:46
The Saints? Aye, that's a cinematic take on an actual playable bit of the game - you'll be ambushed at the motel and then the level is you killing them off before they kill you

There are some minor.
AFAIK, there are no cut scenes and the part of the SP Campaign he uses for the vid he he keeps replaying to talk about the game mechanics and the pros and cons of different strategies.
As a general rule he tries not to give much away and he always warns if a spoiler is coming.

Finished this on Friday - it is AMAZING. Some brilliant open-plan missions connected via some stellar puzzley sneaky bits.
I was a bit disappointed that The Saints didn't feature more heavily, and there's a twist at the end which (while it made me very happy) was a little implausible.
The online Contracts mode works really well too - you play a level and mark targets for death and kill them how you want them killed, and then people online can try and beat your created mission. Some Greek guy played my contract 14 times but didn't give it a thumbs up. Rude :|
You guys should definitely give it a go - you shouldn't be disappointed

The main reason i asked for this game is because of the saints, its a shame they don't really feature.
Is it a short game then? Or have you just put a lot of hours into it?
