Whats the best software for this these days?

Not attempted it for a while but remember trying in the past with various packages inc. DIVX, DVDFab (i think), AnyDVD (I think) and always...
- takes AGES
- end up with audio sync issues.

I use Format Factory which is free to convert most things and it has loads of options to suit . I've never done a DVD to AVI but have just loaded one to do .You select "Any to AVI" and "add" the video_TS folder from the dvd and then set the output options ( size,quality etc ) and click "Start" ... I'll see if that works later .

EDIT : Hmmm..not sure this is working ....looks like it might be taking each individual part within the video_TS folder and converting them to avi seperately
