The search is on now for a suitable 3D Blu Ray player, but after MANY hours trawling the net and reading endless reviews I have realised that I need a degree in techy geekness to confidently press the 'buy now' button and be sure I am getting the right model. I skipped those classes and consequently am a bit of a damsel in distress.
Obviously, the TV has 3D, so that's a requirement for the Blu Ray, but after that is where I get confused. The TV has wifi capability and will hook up with my PC and read files from there, so I guess I DON'T need the Blu Ray player to have that too? Surely that would just mean paying more to duplicate the same capability, right? Can you even get 3D players without all that?!
I have a lot of standard DVD's which are not Region 2 which I'd like to be able to use on whichever player I buy, I don't really want to have to keep another old school player for those. Everything I have read suggests that Blu Ray players can't be hacked to multi region for the Blu Ray part, but some either arrive region free or can be hacked to play other region DVD's. Confusingly, Amazon states on ALL their Blu Ray player pages that they only play R2 DVDs, even if the manufaturers description states they are multi region. Could this be more confusing?
So far these are in the running - am I anywhere remotely near being on the right track? Is there any benefit to sticking with LG not?
LG BD670 / Sony S570 / Phillips BDP 5200/05
Anyone wise person
Thanks in advance.
