So I walked out this morning to see the below sight...

FMF Image

I have already ordered a replacement.

My question is, is it illegal to drive when the offside mirror is gone? I seem to think yes, google seems a bit confused by the question.

Here is links to two forums discussing the same problem.

Gawd, why would someone do that? There are some twats about. My Dad had the badge of his car taken when he went to a meeting in Birmingham once, that seemed pointless too!

They stole all my wheel trims the other week too... the original Vauxhall ones, battered to within an inch of their life... that was pointless.

I think you need a drivers side mirror

It was a shame they didn't nick the whole assembly, be easier to pinpoint a thief when someone pulls out the drivers wing mirror assembly to check their hair lol_2.gif

That happened to my Dad too. ohmy.gif I think it was when he was in Leicester, visiting a client somewhere. He just bought a new badge... unsure.gif

Cheap bastards. ohmy.gif Normally, I'd get angry, but to steal something so worthless shows how stupid they are. loon.gif

I'd say you need both. Whether it's a requirement or not - I know I need my mirrors, and rely on them. How else would I pull out safely on an uphill crawler lane, or in the city?? Or make sure I'm not cutting someone up?? unsure.gif

They may get some scrap metal value out of it. Not very much from just four wheels, but if they stole from enough cars....

Aren't they made of plastic?

Well you and I know that-- but trust me many petty crims aren't that bright;) One of my latest customers at work, stole a mobility scooter for scrap-metal-- even though it only had scrap-value a value of £2 rolleyes.gif To the poor victim, the scooter was priceless shaky.gif

Metal car aerials are the latest trend for petty thieves, on some cars they can be unscrewed. Some folk are just kleptomaniacs anyway!
