It's a dark day when nobody mentions the new iPhone, even 2 days after announcements. What are your thoughts, my 3G phone is on its last legs so I am ordering it first thing tomorrow.
It doesn't seem too innovative but it has great workings underneath apparently.
I don't think you can order yet.
Try on the 18th or 20th.
You can pre order from today and it is physically released (or ships as they like to put it) next friday.
Not bothered..
My iPhone 4 contract is up in February but i'm just going to hold on to it now until a new model comes out.

It was a big disappointment after such a long wait. I'm holding on to my 3GS until they do a proper revamp.
I think it is a little early to say that. At least wait until the public have had their hands on it for a few weeks to see how good/buggy it is.
The 3GS is well dated.

The news is apparently that the 4S is a minor upgrade from the iphone 4. Some hardware improvements and thats about it - something of a disappointment given we were expecting the iphone 5.
I might wait and see what other smartphones are available besides the iphone in the coming year before making a decision on a replacement phone. *Is also using an iPhone 3G*.
Its much faster (a new processor)
Quicker at taking photos.
8MP camera and some fancy stuff.
OS update too. You can ask it questions by voice and it will answer you.
Better battery life (something 3GS owners will appreciate)

I don't think any of the new features are considerable enough to warrant the long wait for a new version.
For starters, I'm sure the new processor is very fancy, but I'd never count slowness as a negative of my 3GS, it's pretty fast at everything 99% of the time.
Nearly all the models will get the iOS upgrade... the voice thing looks interesting but also quite gimmicky.
The 8MP camera is a great upgrade, but not very impressive when you consider most other mobile brands have had at least that as standard for the last couple of years, and at much less cost.
Basically, everyone wanted an iPhone 5 and we didn't get one.
A 2MP camera is prity crappy though, and without a flash of any kind, so this and the battery life and display are very good reasons for upgrading.

Mines ordered
All they needed to do was change something small! Anything!
Maybe instead of black and white introduce some colours maybe like the ipods. I would have ordered one straight away if they had done that.
The camera and voice thing isn't enough for me to bother upgrading.

When do people reckon iPhone 5 actually will appear?

I looked into it and they usually release June/July or Sept/Oct so probably in June. My 3GS won't last that long...

I only got a 4 a month ago and loving it so far. I'm glad I didn't hold off to wait for the 4S as I'm not really arsed about a slightly better camera (4's seems good enough and has a flash) and will be getting iOS 5 tomorrow anyway.
Is anyone actually going to use Siri more than a handful of times anyway?

Picked my new phone up yesterday. Had to queue for over an hour and it was touch and go as to whether I would get a White or black one. Once home and after playing with it (much to the annoyance of my iPhone 4 hubb) I thought it was fantastic. Remember I am upgrading from a 3G so this thing was fast. Siri s a fun thing but I can see limited use. However the voice recognition is very clever for writing texts on Facebook, twitter etc.

apaprently the voice recognition software isnt going to be available in Ireland

at least for the moment anyway. ive a 3gs so thinking of upgrading to this. From what Ive heard it looks like this phone will be a great upgrade for people with the 3GS but not much of an upgrade if you have an iphone 4
Got it. Love it. No regrets. Skint though

I love Siri. Texting and driving became possible. And texting in the bath aint as risky

Apparently the Iphone 5 is out next summer, and is meant to be 4g and be amazing, I might wait for that if my 3G can hold out that long

Does the UK even have 4G coverage?
Siri wouldn't like my accent so I wouldn't even be able to use the amazing feature...
Anyone here suffering from the 4s battery problem????
The Apple
support forum is ful of posts about it and The Guardian already wrote an
article about it.

I don't think it's quite as good as the 4, no, but I wouldn't say I've had major problems. neither.
