I would like to go to New York this Christmas with my boyfriend, but we haven't been going out for that long.

What's the etiquette on this kind of situation?

If you've been together for, say, 2+ months then I think that you're ready for a trans-Atlantic trip like that. thumbsup.gif And Christmas is still five months away! By then you might want to get married while you're here. biggrin.gif If you were in the US then I'd say that after two weeks into the relationship you'd be ready for a fun time in the Big Apple. grindance.gif

Are you aware that hotel prices in New York skyrocket in December? sad.gif January and February are slow months. You could come for Valentine's Day as an alternative. heart.gif )

I think it sounds soon.
But it's up to you two.
Does he want to go?

Well, in that case ask him "Shall we go to New York for Christmas?" AS AN OPEN-ENDED QUESTION, i.e. not demanding a yes (or a no).

If you like? Imagine you'd broke up by christmas though, you'd be going to NYC with someone you possibly hated, and missing christmas!

Maybe go for a few smaller breaks first?
Christmas together is a pretty big thing...especially going away for it.

Unless you both happen to be Muslims or Jews of course.

Well they're obviously not are they... they'd never be able to get time off at Christmas if they were reindeer.

They also wouldn't need to worry about the air fare.
