I think it's best that you not spend a day thinking of retorts to the points here. We are never, EVER, EVER going to see eye to eye. You don't really seem to understand the industry, or points being made, by myself and others, and I haven't really seen you posting in here until E3 and even then the majority of your posts seem negative and inflammatory.
You don’t post in this forum 24/7 therefore I don’t care for your opinionI’m afraid I have neither the time nor inclination to post a huge amount in a gaming forum. I post as and when something takes my interest I apologise if that doesn’t qualify me to form an opinion or disagree with you.
Oh and the fact the forum is buried at the bottom of the board doesn’t help.

WRONG AGAIN:
GameBoy and GameBoy Colour: 118.69 million, as of 31 March 2011.
Nintendo DS – 146.42 million, as of 31 March 2011
Game Boy Advance – 81.51 million, as of 31 March 2011
PlayStation Portable – 51.6 million, as of 2 June 2009
The 3DS has just sold it's first million in Japan.
That totals at just shy of 400 million.
Meanwhile in 2010 alone close to 300 million smart phones was sold worldwide and that number is expected to be closer to if not surpass 400 million for 2011. That’s one year of sales and doesn’t take into account the fact that as of June 2011 the iPad had sold around 25 million units and the iPod touch was at about 20 million units in May 2011. Nor does it factor in the sale of other tablets (which I can’t be bothered to look up) or touch like devices.
But no you’re right clearly portable gaming devices are the king of sales…

What I will say is, Mr R, I think you are severely and quite drastically underestimating just how many gamers there are in the world who are and who will carry on buying these portable gaming consoles. The 3DS is only at the start of it's lifecycle and it's going to get better from here. The sales are going to start booming once the killer games come out.
I don’t believe I’ve ever disputed that hardcore gamers will continue to be interested in portable gaming devices but I’d point out that the DS hasn’t sold 148 million units because it’s popular with hardcore gamers. Once again in an age where people are spending hundreds on smart phones, tablets and MP3 players that all offer gaming (and increasingly advanced gaming as they become more powerful) it’s going to be harder and harder for Nintendo and Sony to convince people to fork over another £200+ on a portable consoles that don’t offer the same level of functionality.
QUOTE(Jonnycondom @ Jun 14 2011, 21:40)

Yes you're right, 148 million people owning a DS is quite clearly a small number?!?!
It is when compared to the near 300 million people who brought a smart phone in 2010 yes.
QUOTE(Jonnycondom @ Jun 14 2011, 21:40)

and in regards to what you said about the 3DS and the PSV not being able to offer people something they can't get on their smartphones..
I just...I can't even comprehend the madness of that statement.
I'm walking away from this. I refuse to join in with this troll of a discussion anymore because I don't think you have a friggin clue what you're talking about Mr, but I know you have this incessant need to always be right so no doubt you will reply to this with more bullcrap.
Maybe you should try paying attention to what people actually say then
...are they then really going to want to spend another £200+ on a portable gaming device that isn't really offering them anything new? And lets not pretend that we're not approaching a point where the more immersive stuff lands on smart phones etc. When that happens the DS, PSV etc. are dead in the water because they can't compete functionality wise.Ultimately almost everyone else is going to ask why am I spending £200+ on this portable device when I've already spent that much or could spend that much on a smart phone/iPod/iPad/tablet that gives me more functionality and portable gaming as well. This problems only going to increase as smart phones become more powerful. And yes when people continue to misrepresent what I've actually said I'll continue to respond.
