Update: the phased restoration of certain PSN services has begun. We’ll let you know as each territory goes online via @PlayStationEU on twitter, at which point you will be able change your PSN password.

Qirocity services are still not restored at time of posting.
I think you're the only customer for that, KK.

We all want our online gaming!

Agreed, but Q. uses the PSN backbone, so progress on restoration of it, would be indicative of the whole structure becoming reactivated.

Not for a couple of weeks I guess. The store is not scheduled to return until the end of the month.

Well only in Yankee Doodle land. None of the EU countries have been switched on as of this time.

Well. Error message when trying to change password. It gives the same error 80710d36 which appeared when PSN was first hacked. Could this be take two?

Frankly I'm COMPLETELY FUCKED OFF with this.
And now it's done it.

Servers must be getting a hammering.

Interestingly (annoyingly) the PSN has still not been restored in Japan, as the Govt isnt convinced the security is up to scratch...
ic1male
May 18 2011, 09:43
I know. The poor Japanese!

Left behind for once.
I've already had game rage. My DualShock 3 nearly got smashed into a thousand pieces last night. I realise how stress free the PSN downtime actually has been.

What free games are you going for then?
There is Infamous, Dead Nation, LittleBigPlanet, Wipeout HD and Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty
I'll be definitely having Infamous - every PS3 owner should have it and probably Dead Nation. LBP bored me when I tried it.

And now the password website has been hacked.

If you cannot change your password on your PS3, you are buggered.

The store is back

. Free games will be available later today or tomorrow. Then it'll just be business as usual.
How long are the games available for?
phoenix87
Jun 2 2011, 18:24
30 days after the day their made available.
Mister R
Jun 3 2011, 20:01
So apparently the welcome back gifts are now available to download from the Playstation Store.
phoenix87
Jun 3 2011, 21:16
Tis that. Not that I've managed to download anything yet because the heavy amount of traffic makes it say error (insert numbers here).
Btw if anyone tries to download the games and it comes up with an error (like mines) and makes the options dissapear in the welcome back bit. Go to account management>transaction management>services list. Then the downloads will appear there.
Before I found this out I thought it had fucked up and I no longer had the option for the free games. I died a bit inside haha.
Mister R
Jun 3 2011, 21:33
I cannot put into words how shitty the welcome back packs are.
After a month offline and compromising customer details (not to mention dicking everyone around with when it would come back online) this is the best they can manage? A selection of games where all but one of which was released in 08/09 and three of which have had or will have sequels released this year. So basically those freebies are just ads for new releases.
Then the Playstation+ subscription which is just an ad for the Playstation+ service.
And I won't even touch on the absolute shit that they're doing for free movie rentals from the video store.

What games can I get free and how?
phoenix87
Jun 3 2011, 21:56
Free games available are
Infamous
Little big planet
Wipeout hd/fury
Dead nation
Rachet and clank...something about booty
Just go on the playstation store and click the big welcome back offer thingy.
There's free film rentals?
Mister R
Jun 3 2011, 22:10
Yeah over this weekend they're doing selected free film rentals. If I remember rightly the current selections are:
Final Fantasy Spirits Within
Resident Evil Degeneration
House of the Dead 2
So obviously they're rolling out the hits.

Mister R
Jun 3 2011, 22:43
On another note the constant error messages every time I try and access the store are starting to piss me off now. I'm don't even want to download their free stuff at the moment.
I just watched the film the other month again it's funny that despite it being so old the technology can still meassure up to current CGI movies.
I always liked the movie it just doesn't have much to do with FF.
RE:D was okay, not great though.

Jun 4 2011, 00:52
Well! All in all that took about 3 hours to download and install my two games, and I'll do it all again tomorrow on my other account...I suppose at least I can get 60 days free playstation plus. Just don't know if it any good or not though.

Jun 4 2011, 08:55
Not sure if it is worth getting any games as I have Wipeout HD already...
I've heard at work that in Canada they are also giving away films on the movie store (Sony films), not news as to whether this will be happening over here...
Mister R

Anyone else finding the store very glitchy?
Mister R
Jun 4 2011, 21:22
Yeah. Seems that the sheer weight of traffic is causing problems for the servers. Hopefully everything'll resolve itself over the next couple of days.

Jun 4 2011, 22:47
Just read online and this worked for me. If you can't find the games, go to the following place and you can select the welcome back pages there, it should take you to the games:
PlayStation Network > Account Management > Transaction Management > Services List > SCEA Promotions >
Uninvited
Jun 5 2011, 15:31
I can second Jay's advice - you may get a few errors but it does work eventually.
I've got EU and US PSN accounts so I've picked up 4 titles but the selection was rather lacklustre. I already own Infamous and Wipeout so I've now got LittleBigPlanet and Super Stardust HD from the US store and Ratchet & Clank and Dead Nation from the EU. Got Streets of Rage 2 too thanks to the free PS Plus sub.
I too would have much prefered a gift voucher to spend on whatever I wanted but I get that Sony are desperately trying to minimise their losses. Completely understand the strategy but it's still kinda naff.
Jaylocutus
Jun 5 2011, 17:51
With these giveaways too I think there is more of a chance people will come back just for these and then clear off, at least with a gift voucher people might be a bit more willing to give PSN another go.
I'd have preferred a voucher too btw.

I would have been happier with a gift voucher for the value of the stuff they're giving away. Or just a wider selection of games would have been nice.
Now Nintendo has been hacked.
Not on the same scale at all but all the hacking just annoys me lately.
I agree with it in a political context, but it just seems skewed to attack a games company for no specific reason... So random.
