Hi alll, just though I'd add my own potential date agony to the list of many
Anyway there is this guy who get on the bus home every so often. Really cute and good looking.
A few months back I saw a profile on a dating site (ladslads) but before I'd put two and two together and worked out that this profile seems very similar to the guy on the bus and before I got round to sending a message. Ilost the profile and cannot find him again.
So the only option left is to approach him on the bus.

Which I'm dreadingg sounding like a tit if I manage to build up the courage.
Any tips/advice welcome.

Try to naturally strike up conversation with him but I wouldn't bring up his ladslads profile as that might come across a bit.... ya know..... stalkerish?

Ask him if he has the time. Perfectly innocent and may get things going.
Sashay up to him and go "honey, that is one shithot FIERCE pair of shoes you got on. Where they from sweetcheeks?"
OR
Just try to think of something that feels organic.. For instance, offer him a copy of the Metro you have finished with, or, ask the time, or if he listens to music, ask him what he is listening to as it sounds familiar.

Make eye contact, smile, and then find something to say. Then ask a question/make a comment which you can follow up on. Preferably a question that will lead to a sentence, as opposed to 2-3 words. If the person is relatively friendly and open to conversation, he will naturally make afew further remarks. If he isn't interested in talking, you'll get a short and to the point response, followed by a quick turn away from you. You'll have to read the bodylanguage to get a feel for that.
See mike's last example for a good conversation opener (easily leads to a discussion), second last one (asking the time) is okay, and the metro (newspaper?) one is not something I'd see myself doing.
Appear confident, or at the very least avoid any appearance of nervousness.
Also, don't stare/make repeated eyecontact over prolonged periods of time. Its creepy for the other guy, no matter how good looking you are. If you've made eye-contact enough times that you know you recognise each other, and keep on making eye contact, then you should probably bite the bullet and just go up and say hi (regardless of whether you have an excuse to or not). That or risk falling into the creepy category.

I HATE to say this OP, but if he's a net surfer with an internet profile there's every chance he might be on here too.

True but it could be the ice breaker he's looking for if the other guy is reading this thread

I don't use a bus...
Not I. Not only do I live on the other side of the pond, my home is too rural for the busses to run. Don't worry. I hear the guys who drive these things can be pretty hot.
