Does anyone else here listen to Eastern Asian music? I personally love it. I think KPOP, J-pop, Mando/Canto pop are all different from each another and all great in their own ways.

Wow... You've chosen a really classic Faye Wong song there. "Fragile Woman" is one of my all-time favourite songs and quite definitive of Hong Kong's golden era of Cantopop.

I must admit I don't really listen to much Cantopop anymore - I find most of today's stuff quite tedious, poorly produced/written, or vocally weak.

Back when I was very young though I absolutely loved music by Anita Mui, Faye Wong, Andy Lau, Aaron Kwok, Leslie Cheung, Sammi, Sally Yip, Beyond, and Jacky Cheung.

Ha, I was about to post that exact video. However, I'm not fully convinved that they weren't made in a factory by Kim Jong-Il yet - they all look far too perfect.

The thing I love about KPOP mainly is all the girls look so innocent and dress like sluts, but they don't look like sluts. However if an American band were to dress like SNSD did they'd look like hookers


The dancing is also really impressive with Kpop and J-pop artists. But then I guess, if you can't dance, you aren't going to make it big over there.


@Fruitylicious yes that song is really iconic. Just as iconic as Faye herself. Her comeback tour starts in two days and some tickets went for £2500 I wish I could have gone.

I just got SNSD's new EP. It's really good, there's a ballad on there called Mistake. It's their best ballad.

Don't really listen to a lost of Asian music any more, of what I have I think only 1 album is Korean and 1 Chinese (Fey Wong), the rest is Japanese rock (Gackt, The Back Horn) / pop (Chihiro Onitsuka, Utada, Avantage Lucy) and the epicness of World's End Girlfriend (post-rock).

This song is just awesome though, love the dancing (especially the bit at 3:55) never heard any others by this group though.

Which Faye Wong album do you own, Tole? Her comeback concert has probably started about an hour ago in Beijing. I can't wait the videos on YouTube when someone uploads them. The concert is said to have a seasonal theme. So there'll be an Autumn segment, Winter, Spring and Summer.

I'm surprised nobody's posted the Wonder Girls. This was possibly one of the biggest hits in Asia this year. There's also an English version...not sure if they were trying to break into America with it though.

Wonder Girls are great and so is their success...but I think Girls' Generation have a lot more spunk than them.

I'm actually quite pleasantly surprised thereare so many Faye fans on here, it's great. Hopefully 2011 will see a new album...even though she said she'll just put singles out. We can always hope. I want to see her in more filmstoo, Chungking Express and 2046 are two of my all time favourites and she's amazing in them.

Reviving this thread because SNSD have become my favourite group ever. I nearly have all of their discography All of the members are incredible and have something unique about them. They're all so endearing too and have such wonderful aegyo. I'm really excited to see what the future holds for them, hopefully international success, seeing as they've conqured Japan in the last month.

For Mandarin music, there is only one; Tsai Chin. A voice that makes me stop whatever else I'm doing and listen. The following song is an old Jacky Cheung number, but she really 'makes it her own' (can't believe I said that). It's one of my faovurite songs, and if you can get your hands on the DVD this comes from, you have audio gold.

South Korean singers can be as camp as fuck and everyone will still love them. Pretty much all of SHINee's fan girls think that Key would shag them and enjoy it hahaha.

I can't stop listening to Gee. It's already engraved in my mind, but I keep drilling it in. It's fascinating. I can kind of do the dance, but very badly. I need to learn the Genie dance, but that's harder.

I have the Genie dance dowwwwn. It would make my life hearing any of their songs in a club but other than me fucking the dj I can't see it happening. I actually looked at flights to South Korea in case they tour, LOL.

Dancing Queen was amazing, they all have pretty strong voices more than youd think and better than most soko bands.
I miss Hyo being at the forefront, she's barely in the videos these days.

At the end of that Beautiful Girls video, they put Hyoyeon in the middle. That's normally where they put Yoona because she's the face of the group, so hopefully it means Hyo will get more airtime. It's unfair how you can barely see her during dance routines in the mvs when she's the lead dancer.

Ooh, they've covered Come On Over too, Seohyun and Taeyeon sing really, really well in English. I'm always so impressed with these 9 girls.

It's a little sad how US Gangsta style hip-hop has invaded Asian music. I think it wouldn't be too bad if the sound was copied, after all that's how all music spreads, but by doing all the silly gangsta hand movements in the video I liked the song less.
