Okay here is my update.
Season 3 was amazing. I loved the more upbeat feel to it. It was so happy and light-hearted.
I was waiting for something really bad happening cause surely this couldn't go on forever.
I guess that's what the divorce was supposed to be but actually that wasn't a big surprise and Don had it coming.
Why would Betty marry that old guy though? She is so beautiful she could take her pick and she gets with him?
Crazy person.

Season 4 so far is alright though I don't like the bright colourful style of it. It's just doesn't fit.
It's still very funny though. The scene were Peggys head just appears behind Don in the window that separates their offices was priceless.
Also: He doesn't own your Vagina. - No but he is renting it." will be forever the best quote of the show.
Peggy looks better than ever, she almost sort of starts slightly to begin to look as pretty as people pretend she was all along.
Kenny so far only had a little scene but he was hot in it.
I hope he comes back to work for the company and has hot gay sex with Peggys super cute assistant.
Don is so annoying. In the first seasons you could tell he went for women who represent the opposite of what his wife does. Forward thinking, independent and unpredictable. So you could explain his adultery with the fact that he is looking for something Betty can't give him and he actually really cared about his mistresses but over the seasons he became just some dirrty old perv who shags everything left and right. Hooking up with his secretary was cheap but hitting on that teenage niece from Anna was downright disgusting.
I assume he is gonna shag that Doctor Blonde person who works for him (for whatever reason) soon too. I don't like her.
I still enjoy it but the whole new design kinda lost them the stylish spark and a lot of atmosphere.

Also were they kinda desperate when it came to season 4 or why is there so much more Sex? It's a lot more graphic than it used to be too.

Ken is so pretty, how is his role not bigger?

Season 4 was by no means my favourite but the finale was a lot of fun.
Don marrying his secretary was a total WTF!? moment but it actually fits. Why marrying the smart challenging woman when the dipsy one just sits outside the door. It worked once, it'll work twice.
Having said that I actually like Megan she's fun and even though I never liked the doctor I felt bad for her.
There were a lot of nice scenes here.
Don and Betty in the end was really nice and I think they're not done yet.
I know Betty gets a lot of hate but I like her and I can relate. Of course she's a moody bitch, this was supposed to be her time; Having it all, the husband, the kids and the money and Don out in the rain.
Instead she has some boring old guy on her hand and is stuck with children who act out and Don is living the high life shagging around the block.
I'd be pissed off too.
I loved the little scene with Peggy and Joan after they learned of the engagement.
It was so sweet, for the first time they were together as equals. Peggy finally realizing that all her efforts will always be in vain and nothing will ever be as important to men as a pretty face.
Something Joan has known all along.
Joan being still pregnant was not really a surprise, like really not.

Also I know I'm boring with my Ken praising but he is so cute.
I love his whole character he was so good with Peggy, they have great chemistry and his carefree and yet totally confident attitude is awesome. The way he just took a stand for valuing his personal life more than his professional life totally unfazed and not without giving Pete a side blow was the highlight of the episode.

So now I have to catch up with episode one of season 5 and I'm back on top of things.

Mad Men meets Almost Famous

This week's episode was fantastic.

Well I don't know about you lot but I'm watching Season 5 on tv, and omg at Sam Page.

I'm on episode 7 right now (the one were Megans parents coming for a visit)
Thoughts so far:
- Ken is still cute as a button
-Pete is and stays a cunt
- Peggy is a slut
- Joan is kick ass but terribly underused. Seeing her sitting on her tiny desk in her shared office room breaks my heart. She is supposed to glide through the building and rule it!
- Don has managed to still be a complete dick to his wife even without the cheating. Didn't think that was possible.
- MJ is now Bobby
- Where the heck is Betty? Was she axed? I thought she was supposed to be super important this season?
- I liked the LSD episode, t'was funny and Roger is single once more.
- Mona looked ravishing
- always love to see Glenn back
- the City is dirrty

I don't think Peggy is a slut or a whore just a young woman marching into the age of sexual freedom and women's Lib in the U.S. circa 1966. Acting on sexual desires and having fun does not make you a slut.
The dudes are way more whoring around if you want to call it that.

The show is great and keeps getting better and we're always surprised and bummed when the episode ends being the hour passes so quickly.

What happened to Henry Crane? I liked that slightly overweight, lollipop sucking guy who felt incredibly bad when he cheated on his wife.
The new Henry is just a carbon copy of every other guy on the show (part from Ken, who at least so far seems to actually like his wife). He was nice to Paul though.

There's been talking about something big it's bound to happen for season finale. There were lots of hints about death, suicide, the rifle and the gun have been mentioned a few times, and smug Pete is going bonkers... What do ye folks think?

Is he losing it and going on a killing spree in SCDP? Lane killing himself?

As for Joan and Don, yeah they were on fire but it would have been cheap if they had slept together.

I wasn't necessarily implying that they have to get it on, I just love Don and Joan together as characters.

I didn't get Lanes problem, why does he need money so desperately?

The final will be Betty killing everyone and then having sex with Don on a pile of corpses.

I think it was that as an expat HMRC (or the Inland Revenue as it was then) were looking to charge him income tax for his earnings in the US. He paid someone (a lawyer?) to contest this as he was presumably also paying income tax in the States. The lawyer came to a one off agreement with HMRC where he would pay a lump sum which is the money he needed. I think he mentioned it was about $4k which is probably $50k ish today (complete guess there).

Really good episode, enjoyed it. Only thing I didn't like was that it was all about Joan and Don. It should have been about Roger and Joan, it seems totally out of character for him to be so disinterested and okay with it.

It's the second time Don's actions have this outcome.

Its taken them the entire season but they've finally re-found their mojo the past couple of weeks.

Last weeks episode contained two exceptional performances from Christina Hendricks and Elisabeth Moss and this week finally refound the magic of last years 'The Suitcase' with a truly mind blowing performance from Jared Harris. Excellent stuff.

Seems a bit unfair. There may have been a couple of iffy episodes near the start, but I'd say most of the season has been great throughout.

I'm with Mr. R on this. Mad Men lost it a bit already in season 4 but the last few episodes were great again.
I hate Don. He is such a self centred dickhead. I hope he feels proper guilty for what he's done to Layne but then he couldn't have cared less when his brother did the same so he probably won't.
Plus he tried to get Kenny fired, fucking retard.
As if Kens father in law would hire his company when they fire him. Logic much? Good on Kenny for not taking any crap.
Too many people where saying that Layne will probably kill himself so it kinda spoilt it for me. It was shocking nonetheless how they did it, the way they looked over the wall.
I loved the Sally storyline, it was really sweet that despite all she went to her mum when she was panicking. Good to see Glen again too, he is all the man Don wishes he'd be which is why all the women in his life are drawn to Glen.
Still not over the fact Roger let/pushed Joan into prostitution. Especially now that I remembered she is the MOTHER OF HIS CHILD!!!!

It was right that Joan found out what happened.

But is Peggy gone for good? She can't be, the story about the baby has to come back. She can't just disappear off the show.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying its been terrible this year but it has been noticeably below the usual standard until the last couple of episodes though. This is a particular problem in that I can't help but compare it to Homeland and the most recent season of Breaking Bad which just had increasingly brilliant episodes throughout their runs. It still pains me that no one actually airs Breaking Bad in the UK - this is the perfect show for the Sky Atlantic brand and its nowhere to be seen. Its a bit sad that I'm more excited about getting my hands on the Breaking Bad screeners for the opening episodes of season five than I am the Mad Men finale. Anyway enough Breaking Bad...
