Benidorm fans may want to take note of the fact that this is the final series that will be written by the show’s creator. He’ll be moving onto other projects although hasn’t dismissed the possibility of the show continuing without him and I suspect it probably will unless its numbers crash and burn this year.

Always liked G & S, but they don't want to keep spoil it by keeping on like Only Fools and Horses.
Benidorm was amazing last night. So bright and colourful to get us through the last few weeks of winter. One of my favourite shows! A pleasure. Nothing guilty about it!

W T F Cilla Black she must be desparate for money what a pointless cameo performance she can't act to save her life, she craves TV airtime must be to cover the bar bill when she holidays with Paul O'Grady

I watched it and I liked it. It wasn't hilarious or anything but it was quite amusing and in some ways clever. I thought Cilla was OTT but she was playing herself so she didn't need to be have an excellant acting performance. Cilla turning into a bit of a swinger was really good.

I think I disagree with just about everything you've said! I haven't seen her on TV in years, whether she has or not I don't know, but I don't think she 'craves' airtime! she played herself and it wasn't bad at all and I highly doubt she is desperate for money. What's your beef?!

I think the cast is excellent.
Loved Mr & Mrs Tim Healey fighting by the pool.
She should have given him skating lessons so he'd be steadier on those rollerblades!
And a special mention to young Oliver Stokes, whose acting just gets better and better.
He really is a great find.

My only complaint about this excellent programme is that there's always been a distinct lack of male totty.
Unless that Spanish barman floats your boat.
Only Troy's son showed promise at the end of the last series.
Anyone know if he's due to re-appear at some stage?

Oh just remembered the toy boy who was after Janice last series.
He was quite the hottie!
The shows not about the totty. But I do love Jake..

Gutted Series 4 only had 6 eps, was hoping it would be 8 like S2!

This programme just goes from strength to strength.
It better be re-commissioned...
If it is re-commissioned, Derren the writer and creator of the show (who made a little appearance last night, as he has done in every series!) has said he won't be involved in any further series.

http://www.comedy.co.uk/news/story/0000066...dorm_the_movie/Hope it hasn't run out of steam by then?
It'll either be brilliant or dire!
I love Benidorm and the early episodes were great but as soon as the show became really popular it obviously got a much bigger budget and they can tend to go a bit overboard with celebrity guest stars in every scene (or is pressured by the network to cast a lot of celebrity guest stars) which it really doesn't need in my opinion.
It's the same story for most sitcoms. People love it originally, mainly due to word of mouth and the show builds up a following, then the network realises it is really popular and they could make a lot of money from it, pump loads of money into it, ruin it with guest stars and massive advertising campaigns aimed at a much wider audience who decide they don't get like it and slate it.
Rant over. I just like the show and it's a shame to know where it's probably going, when it could have ended by now on a high.

Controversially, I've loved Benidorm since the first episode, but thought the most recent series screened (fourth) was lacking something. The axing of Johnny Vegas' character and his screen girlfriend, as well as Martin the poor bloke whose wife had moved on with a new relationship were sad losses, and I found all of the new characters to be a bit limited, sort of 2-D cartoonish characters (such as Noreen's eternally miserable daughter, the transvestite barman and his son and the two girls he was trying to chat up) rather than the fleshed out, 3-D, fully-rounded characters of the earlier series. I wonder if that's due to the fact that Noreen's daughter didn't display any redeeming characteristics at all. Someone being miserable all the time is not funny, it's depressing. Still lovely to see Bananarama and Mateo's lovely bum, but just didn't find it as funny as Series One to Three. Hope Series Five can pick up the pace again.
Ah I have to completely disagree with you there. I think Noreen's daughter Pauline is the best character to come out of all of the series. I thought she was an absolutely brilliant character and a brilliant actress and I really hope she makes a return.

Did you know Selina Griffiths who plays his sister Pauline is the daughter of Annette Crosbie.
I liked her best as Siobhan Redmond's PA Janet in The Smoking Room alongside Robert Webb.
