OK, you've found the perfect picture, you scanned it from a magazine or saved it on your hard disk after seeing it on another website.

Now, you being the kind soul that you are, you want to post it here on FMF, so the whole community can enjoy it. How do you do this ???

Well, as mentioned in the rules, you need your own webspace and you need to make sure it's a file format that's accepted on FMF, .bmp for instance is NOT allowed, but .gif and .jpg are.
In this small tutorial I will use http://http://photobucket.com as the webspace provider because registration is relatively easy and free! It also allows uploading and posting multiple pictures simultaneously.

Go to http://http://photobucket.com and create an account. Once you have done that and are logged in, click the My Albums button:

FMF Image

and select the second option: Albums & Upload.

This window be displayed:

Use the Choose Files button to browse to the picture(s) you want to post, select them and click the Open button. The picture will be uploaded and after a little bit will be listed on the webpage including a small preview, as shown here

In your account settings you can decide which types of links are shown. As you can see, I selected two possible links, the Direct Link and the IMG Code. For posting on FMF you need the IMG Code. Simply clicking in the IMG Code box below the picture will copy the URL to your clipboard so you can paste it when starting your new post.

Now you go to the Famous Males Forums webste, go to the View Forum and click on New Topic
FMF Image

You must enter a Topic Title, for instance: "Great picture of Justin Timberlake"
if you want you can add a Topic description as well

Now, make sure your text cursor is in the message box and paste the URL of the image you want to post (use CTRL+V or right-click > paste)
By clicking the IMG Code box of another picture you uploaded on Photobucket, you can add links to other pictures as well.

It is recommended that you add a bit of background information about the person in the pics (unless they are known all over the world), but make sure you don't accidentally edit the picture's website address.

Now you click on the Preview Post button to see if nothing has gone wrong
FMF Image
and the post is displayed. If it looks OK, you click on Post New Topic.

That's it, the beginner's guide to posting pictures.
Good luck thumbsup.gif

P.S.
If Photobucket does not display the IMG links, there should be a link called "link options" below each image. If you click it you can select which links are shown.
There's an option called "IMG for bulletin boards & forums", always use the top one, "Full Size" for FMF

Hi, I followed these guidelines, I already had an un-used Photobucket a/c, so uploaded my picture to it, checked the IMG box. I found that my drop down menu on PB was not the same as yours in the tutorial but the check boxes were underneath the picture. I then clicked the 'add image' box and entered the url from my picture. I got the following error 'Sorry, dynamic pages in the [IMG] tags are not allowed'> I have to add that I was attempting to add my picture to a thread already on 'View' about Aaron Ramsey. Do you know where I went wrong ?

Hi, you're right, photobucket have changed their layout since I made this tutorial, but you still managed to work it out.
The 'dynamic pages' error, if I recall correctly, is often caused by too many numbers in the file url. Did the image filename consist of numbers only perhaps????

Try and rename the file, upload it again and then try and post it. That should work. Adding a picture to an existing thread is not a problem smile.gif

Good luck thumbsup.gif

If it doesn't work, post here again and we'll try and work things out santa2.gif
