I have seen a lot more lesbian orientated films but I have seen a few male-male ones too! Brokeback Mountain is the best. Beautiful and heartbreaking with great performances, particularly the late great Heath Ledger. I watched Beautiful thing on tv when I couldn't sleep once and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Especially Linda Henry. Hedwig and the angry Inch was interesting. The more I see michael Pitt, the more attractive he seems to me. That's all I can think of right now but I must have seen more!

QUOTE(Tiuri @ Sep 29 2007, 11:38) *

The Trip 6 out of 10
When 19 year old Tommy, a gay rights activist and 24 year old Alan first meet in 1973, they find themselves on the opposite sides of the political coin. Despite their many differences, they form a loving, long term relationship. In 1977, during Anita Bryant's crusade, an anti-gay book Alan wrote years before gets published without his consent. Tommy, who is now a well known activist, has his credibility destroyed by the book which causes their breakup. Seven years later, Alan is given a second chance, a reunion with Tommy and the opportunity to set things right.

I have just watched this one and enjoyed it. Took a bit of getting into. Jill St John was great as his mum. smile.gif

I've just watched The Bubble by the director of Yossi and Jagger. It's an Israeli film and it was very good but if you like your gay films to be light-hearted full then I'd avoid The Bubble. It is kind of heavy going and the ending is shocking but it's interesting to see the way of life for gay men in Israel and Palestine.

Watched Balls yesterday.

Comedy about a German guy who plays in a amatuer football league.
His team-mates discover he is gay.

Thought the film was funny and poked fun at stereoptypes.

I normally find subtitles offputting, but they were worth it in this case. smile.gif

I know it is a bit of a blockbuster but Philadelphia with Tom Hanks is really good. Really sad but really good.

Surprised it didn't get a mention. I'm surprised My Own Private Idaho only got one mention. One of my favourite films of all time, let alone gay film. The bit with the brothel and the use of Shakespeare is AWESOME. Really cleverly done. The sex scenes always make me laugh, purely because of facial expressions (They are like snapshots rather than full blown sex scenes).

Watched this on your recomendation and it is pretty funny. Subtitles don't really bother me and although it is a bit cheesy in places it's still funny. Well worth a watch.

I just watched Latter Days.

If it had been on TV, I would have turned it off, but I persevered as I had paid DVD rental!

Hot guys (including one in a jockstrap), but not well acted. Suppose it was reasonably well written.

A long way from the best I have seen.

I've just watched a good little movie called Rock Haven. It's similar in plot to Latter Days and sees a young Christian guy struggle with his religion and has attraction to another guy. Not as good as Latter Days but the two leads are really cute (and both appear full-frontal).

I typed "gay" into the search box of my dvd rental club.

You would be amazed how many films Marcia Gay Harden has been in. lol_2.gif

Sorry if I've missed it, if it's been mentioned already, but L.I.E. is an excellent film - "a 15-year-old Long Island boy loses everything and everyone he knows, soon becoming involved in a relationship with a much older man." Stars Paul Dano, from Little Miss Sunshine, and the excellent Brian Cox.

I found LIE a bit disturbing because of the paedophilia theme.

I liked The Dreamers. Also:

Consenting Adults

Velvet Goldmine

Bad Education (Spanish)

That's all my scatterbrain can think of right now.

Just watched Eating Out 2 - Sloppy Seconds.

Entertaining enough.

Nice bit of nudity (always welcome).

Acting a bit wooden by some and OTT by others.

The History Boys.

Nice bit of culture, and nice gay undertones too.
