When posting about a recent movie or TV show and discussing plot details please ensure you indicate **SPOILER** before-hand.

Also where-ever possible, spoilers should be disguised (usually by posting in white text)

Many thanks

Isn't there a proper "spoiler" tag that can be used? So that you have to press a button to reveal?

There is a BB Code Spoiler tag that could be used. Are you adverse to implementing it?

I'm fairly certain that spoiler tags come as standard in the newer versions of IPB, but having seen them in action on another board, half of the members couldn't work them, and it all got confusing. blink.gif

They're indeed very easy to use but the FMF server doesn't like newer IPB versions. The admin's looking at other options (i.e. other servers, not other spoiler tags wink.gif )

But this does. spoiler alert [this shows that the white text method of hiding the ending of a film works. For example, in the film Titanic, the ship sinks.]
End of spoiler.

There have been a few complaints recently about spoilers for things that have already been shown on Terrestrial TV.

And I have stuck up for the spoiling person by advising the complainant that:-

1. It's not a spoiler now - because it's been broadcast.
2. They didn't have to click on that thread, or could have waited until they had seen that episode.

Am I right, or are the complainants?

You're right only if any book that has ever been published or film that has ever been seen also can be "spoiled". For example, can I reveal the name of the murderer in an Agatha Christie book published in 1926 just because someone has already read it and the book has been around for decades? I wouldn't've thought so.

Not sure it's a case of wrong or right, just consideration. Many people use sky+, v+, tivo or download programs using peer2peer or usenet. I am not sure as many people watch tv programs "live" anymore.

If a program is on at 9pm and someone posts spoilers about it within the next few hours or even day then there is a good chance some members of this forum will see that post before watching the program. So to be nice and considerate is it much effort to post Do not read if you not watched yet. Contains spoilers.

I agree, give people a couple of days at least, never put spoilers in the topic title or description and you should probably mark the info as a spoiler...
