There are many types of movies that could play in IE. The easiest solution to make a screen cap is simply pressing the PrtScn (PrintScreen) button. That puts a copy of the active window in the clipboard, which you can paste in some graphics editor (MS Paint even) to cut out the bits you don't want.

On windows mediaplayer I just press control and i and it seems to work ok.

Sure works for me, just getting the video to pause in the exact right place seems to be the trick.

Press the Ctrl i and in the pop up put the directory you want the cap to go to and name or title and works like a charm for me.

Thanks. yipee.gif

For people with Windolws Vista, the Snippit Tool comes included in the Vista Package and it works just fine for me.

Has anyone had any success capturing from BluRay or HD DVD? You can only play them on the new versions of PowerDVD and WinDVD, btu they seem to have capturing disabled sad.gif

Ive been trying different ways of capturing since getting windows 7 and have been a little disappointed in the latest PowerDVD. The old one let you fast forward and back very easily and move frame forward or reverse but the new version is pants, it only goes up to 2x and wont frame backwards, the captures arent particularly good either.

The best Ive found for captures off HD TV card is to load it into AVS Video Converter 6, click edit and if the clip is short just export all the frames to jpegs and choose the best or use the slider and frame advance to find the frame and click snapshot.

Can Windows 7 use VLC player, if so capping is a piece of cake, needing conversion of the output pics from png format once done, will also play the DVD slowly without judder to get the right frames.

I;d agree, VLC is really easy - and if you go into the settings you can set it to save as jpeg, no need to convert.

Thanks for that, I've dug down and altered preferences.

Apologies if this is a stupid question.

Can you take caps of programmes downloaded from BBC iplayer?

If so, how?

Ta!
