I can't see how it can be interpreted as "bad taste" at all, as long as the director and producers have completed as originally intended to the best of their ability.

The only reason I asked is because the Pheonix family are reportedly unhappy about it and I was wondering if people thought they were being over-sensitive?

His family (parents--I think his siblings have left the group) are a bunch of cultists. If River's to be believed, while he was in the Children of God cult, he lost his virginity at four. So fuck what they deem "inappropriate."

Poor River got the most exposure of all the siblngs it was shortly after he was born that the parents got involved.
