I've used them and didn't think they were anything special. Also, I was told by my dentist that they can weaken the enamel. I had my teeth whitened professionally by my dentist a few years ago and they still look fantastic. At the time I paid £399 for it, but now I've seen what I had done for about £250. It's 'Zoom Whitening', so make sure that's what they use if you do get it done because some places will use some other shit. The results were amazing. Now though, included in that £250 price they also take moulds of your teeth which they give you to take home along with the whitening gel so that you can top up at home. So basically, for about £250 you get them whitened at the dentist with Zoom and you also get trays and gel to take home. I'm the king of whitening and have looked into or tried most things. None of the whitening kits found in shops are any good at all. You can buy the actual whitening gel that dentists use off eBay, but you have to create the moulds yourself and it takes ages and ages to see an actual decent result. My teeth are seriously white and I have never even topped up since I had them whitened at the dentist in 2008. With Zoom whitening, they put the gel on your teeth and then shine a light on it that reacts with the gel and penetrates the dentine, removing any stains and whitening your teeth.

Did you get any sensitivity pains for about 24 hours afterwards? I had my teeth whitened a few years ago using Bright White Smiles (was quite cheap, not great and only lasted a few months) but I kept getting these painful sharp shooting pains for about 24 hours afterwards. Scared me into ever having laser treatment again!

I didn't, however I have a friend who had hers whitened using Bright White Smiles and she experienced really bad sensitivity for about 48 hours. I had mine done using Zoom and there was a tiny bit of sensitivity for about 30 minutes after, but that was it. The dentist who did the whitening gave me a special toothpaste to use incase i was experiencing any sensitivity. I would really reccommend Zoom to anyone. My teeth are seriously white and I get comments about how nice they are all the time. I smoke as well...not a heavy smoker but I do smoke quite a bit, so really impressed with how white they've stayed.

I used them for work about four years ago. They whitened my teeth a lot and the effects have lasted very well. However, I stopped before the end of the packet as I was happy with the colour at that point. So, they did change my tooth colour a lot, but I didn't go to brilliant white with them and I can't personally comment if they could have done that or not. Certainly however, they can do a lot (possibly more if I'd kept using them) for some people, so I would give them a go as they're fairly cheap and not too time demanding to use.
