So with it finally being officially being announced that the original line-up of the Sugababes are back together and recording under the name "Mutya, Keisha, Siobhan" and releasing new music in the near future, what do you all think?

I'm really happy about this, and I just hope they end up being successful other wise it'll just be cringey as fuck.

Do you remember them releasing music? You were like 6 at the time.

Siobhan must seriously need the cash if she is willing to put up with Keisha.

Pathetic that's what it is.
It's all about who is the better line up and the better Sugababes, that's the only reason people care.
It won't carry them far.
And when Shioban has enough of Mutya what then?
She leaves and they hire Heid? huh.gif

Love it! Just bought Overload. A amazing song. One Touch was the only Sugababes album I ever bought. And the best. What would happen if MKS get into the charts with a new song and also Overload (sung by all original members) got into the charts again. Would the new line up be forced to be involved somehow? Mind blown.

Just a quick question, but if you never bought any of the other Sugababes albums, how do you know the first one is the best?

And it's funny how people keep referring to the current line-up as the 'new' line-up when they've been together for 3 years, so Heidi has been a Sugababe for 11 years, Amelle has been a Sugababe for 7 years and Jade for 3.

I loved the original Sugababes line-up and bought Overload and One Touch when they came out (and I bought Siobhan's solo albums which were brilliant), but so many people who are now on this 'originals' bandwagon didn't buy their stuff when they were out first time and it's really annoying. They talk like the original line-up changed the industry and were megastars when really the group only became a household name after Heidi joined and it was the second line-up that had the majority of success and is easily the most recognisable.

One question I did get from someone yesterday was what they would do about performing old songs because it starts to raise the same argument that was raised regarding Sugababes performing songs after members had left. Is performing the tracks they released between Freak Like Me and Ugly wrong because Heidi isn't there? The sound will surely be different. And obviously anything after Follow Me Home is pretty much out of the question as only Keisha was in the group then and without Heidi and Amelle songs like About You Now will sound completely different.

For me the best thing Mutya, Keisha, Siobhan could do is to just completely start anew. Maybe Overload and Run For Cover can be sung at their concerts but they should focus on new material and separate themselves from the Sugababes brand, especially if their sound is different to what they used to do, which you would expect 12 years on, not just because the industry and tastes have changed but because they're not teenagers any more, they're in their late 20s.

I wish them all the luck in the world and am looking forward to what they come up with, I just wish most of the so-called fans weren't so petty.

People are probably jumping on the bandwagon because Sugababes have been a bit of joke when it comes to the line up especially when Keisha finally left. So the original line up getting back together is just an extension of that.

I mean it's annoying that they claim to be such big fans who loved the original line-up when, at the time, if they did love them they didn't buy their records.

One Touch only sold 50,000 copies in the first year after its release, which is why they were dropped from their record label.

Yes, the album sold many more copies after they recruited Heidi and started having number 1s but the support just wasn't there in the beginning, which has been proven with both Siobhan and Mutya's solo careers, despite them producing some very good material.

Yes, the Sugababes line-up changes get ridiculed, but I find it funny that people talk about how their music isn't what it once was and praise the original line-up when the only song the current line-up have released to the public that wasn't backed or written by Keisha is 'Freedom', every other song released between 2000 and 2010 had been hand picked with Keisha's blessing, but now she's back with the originals all that has been forgotten and apparently the current line-up have 'ruined' the group when the decline in popularity and sales actually began with the idiotic decision to release 'Change' as a single.

Just because they didn't buy the first album at the time doesn't mean they can't like/prefer the original line up now.

Sugababes are far from a joke.
They changed the line up so many times yet always stayed successful and stood the test of time. Most bands don't survive one line up change not to mention 3.
The only reason people care at all about these three is because the Sugababes have stayed in the public eye all this time despite people announced their dead over and over again.
It's remarkable really.

Of course not, they can love them now in hindsight and enjoy the music they made back then and look forward to and buy the new music they produce in the future.

I'm very interested to see how this will go and if they can sustain interest since only really the second line-up has managed to have consistent success.

It will also be interesting to see who they face in chart battles. The current Sugababes aren't set to release anything until next spring, but other girl groups are either on the rise, or in the case of Girls Aloud, coming back with new material that is already in production.

It might be impressive that they survived the line up changes but its still a total joke that there are no Sugababes left in Sugababes

Very good point. If Sugababes had just broken up back in 2009 instead of replacing Keisha with Jade, would anyone care about the originals or is it just because the current Sugababes are still together that people even remotely care?

And what happened to Keisha's solo material?

You see that's the attitude that annoys me. No Sugababes left in the Sugababes? No originals, yes, fine, completely valid point. Saying Heidi isn't a Sugababe is a slap in the face and that's the joke.

Why? How is that relevant? If the band still produces decent music, who cares?
It's only ridiculous because people say it is so when in reality it doesn't matter one bit.
Besides Heidi is an original Sugababes. She was there when the band was reinvented and became the band it still is today.
A girl pop group instead of some indie garage band.
Sugababes today has nothing to do at all with what they were during their first album period and I mean music wise not the line up.

So because Heidi didn't start the group she's not a Sugababe?

If that's the case, she started Atomic Kitten with Kerry Katona and Liz McClarnon and was with them for nearly 3 years, putting together their first album before she left and Natasha joined. Does that mean Heidi should be credited with Atomic Kitten's creation and subsequent success? Does it mean Natasha and then Jenny were not members of the group because they didn't create it? If Natasha and Jenny reformed without Liz but added a third singer would it still be Atomic Kitten?

I guess you could argue all day.
