The official title for Thor 2 will be Thor: The Dark World and Captain America 2 will be Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The Winter Solider refers to a 2005 comic storyline which saw the Captain's presumed-dead pal Bucky re-emerge as a brainwashed Russian super-soldier. No details on where The Dark World plot is derived or what it'll be about.

Thor: The Dark World is due for release on 8th November 2013 with Captain America: The Winter Soldier due for release on 4th April 2014.

Going solely based on the name I'd say The Dark World refers to Svartalfheim, one of the nine realms and home of the Dark Elves.
But that seems a bit too on the nose IMO.

And you would be right.

Former Doctor Who Christopher Ecclestone will take on the role of Malekith The Accursed ruler of the Dark Elves in Thor 2. I would assume we'll see the Casket of Ancient Winters plot as a result.
