Compact discs and long term exposure to heat and humidity Options

Hi: So I am one of the lucky people to have no air conditioning in the great power outage here on the East Coast. I have power for everything else.

I have a large CD collection all housed in their jewel cases and not exposed to direct sunlight, however... they are being exposed to heat and humidity after 5 days with no AC. Should I be concerned about long term problems later? I am not playing them in the CD player at all. They are in their jewel cases.

Any advice or weblinks appreciated.

Thanks, that's pretty comprehensive.

Tho it doesn't talk about my direct situation, it does mention prolonged exposure to humidity isn't great; but if the environment is gradually dried out; they should be ok.

We are being told that they are ahead of schedule in restoring power; here's hoping it will come back tonite.
