I also use GMail but can you tell us some more ...are you looking at your mail in a web browser or ( like I am ) using a mail programme like Thunderbird .Any e-mails I get with images attached ..the image is shown IN the e-mail but I can also save it seperately if I choose .

I don't know what MS Skydrive is but usually if a file is not opening in a programme that you want to use thats becasue of " File Associations" being wrong .All files need to know what programme to use to open them and you can alter that yourself . What programme DO you want them to open in . Usually if you right click on a file and click " Open With" and then choose the programme and make it the default but telling it to always use this programme .

I'm not sure I understand the problem so I sent an email with an image attached to myself ,went to Gmail in Internet Explorer and opend the message and the image thumbnail was showing "IN " the body of the message with VIEW SHARE and DOWNLOAD options beside it so I clicked VIEW and the full size image appeared in a seperate window in Int Explorer .. If I right click on DOWNLOAD I get the option of OPENING the image or SAVING IT ..Opening it opens it in Windows Live Photo Gallery ...Is that what you see ??

Exactly what I see but when I click on 'view' a new window opens up which says 'loading' then a message appears at top of screen saying something about 'high quality picture' but the picture never appears - however since you last reply I have sent an e mail to myself with a pic attached and all is well - It's beginning to look like it's something my friend is doing because looks like the problem is only with his pic emails -

What I have forgotten to tell you is that I have to save the pic somewhere first and then it will open up but I should not have to do this

Correct, when sending an email from hotmail and adding a picture, you have the option of adding the picture as an attachment (increasing the email size) or saving the file on skydrive (which is the Microsoft cloud storage). The email size will be smaller, but the one receiving the email (you) has to download the image from skydrive first before being able to view it.

Ask your friend to send the picture as proper attachments instead of saving them on his skydrive, that should fix your 'problem' (though it's not really an error, because as you said, once you've downloaded the image you can view it. It does work as it's supposed to do smile.gif )

Hope this helps thumbsup.gif
