Question about inside scoops and exposing them... Options

What are the rules as far as giving inside information about something before the media has gotten a hold of the information?

I happen to know of someone who is through to bootcamp in The X Factor, and also back background information on the contestant too.

Would it be permitted to post about this, and if so, where?

Before you even ask here, shouldn't you be asking them about what their contract says? From googling an old application form is specifically states that they can not reveal any details about the application status, the programme or their appearance on it. Would you want them booted off the show before it is has even been shown?

Anyway, they are not famous (by this websites definition).
