Apparently Nicole Scherzinger is going to be the 4th permanent judge.

Confirmed now: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/s103/the-x-...-factor-uk.html

Worst possible choice ever!

So the "I'm leaving X Factor USA because I didn't realise what a commitment it was and want to focus on my music and my second album" excuse she gave was a load of bollocks and she's signed up for ours.

I don't hate Nicole but I think she would be damaging the show for being considered US scraps due to her less than warm reception over there and her eventual axe.
It leaves a very sour taste if you think she wasn't good enough for the US but apparently does just fine for the UK.

Couldn't disagree more. Despite the "less than warm reception" and the Rachel Crow episode that she received unfair flack for she managed to coach Josh Krajik to second place.

And in fairness she was axed from XFUSA because it wasn't a ratings hit. Although in fairness it was never gonna be with Simon/Paula (who people were no doubt bored of after 8 years on AI) and LA Reid, a name which would mean nothing to anyone but those who read the production credits on albums. And now they've brought in the big name low talent Spears in the hope of drawing in audiences looking for another meltdown. And with the spare ten grand they had left over in the budget they got Lovato.

It doesn't actually matter whether or not it was Nicole's fault or how high she got with an act (people always forget it's the act that gets the votes not the judge) she was highly criticised throughout the whole season and was eventually axed.
She has a loser label on her and on top she isn't massive in the UK to begin with.
I'm not saying she will single handedly run X-factor to the ground but she also does nothing to fix a sinking ship.
I don't get why they would chose her. They should have gotten someone completely new or one of the old judges back not Nicole who is somewhere in between.
And I will not suffer through a whole season cringing to death when executives try to convince us again how she has a thing with Luis.
No sir, no way!

Anastacia would have been an amazing permanent. Apparently she did well in her stint, she's sold shitloads, her career could do with it, her voice is amazing, her back catalogue is awesome..

From what I remember, Nicole was decent on our version when she guest judged two? Years ago, I'm guessing the producers are hoping she will re produce that spunky side of her personality rather than the wet mess she was on the US version.

At least she's not a cunt like Gary, and at least she's not Tulisa.

Christ, I've just read that they chose Nicole. Really? The woman's got about as much personality as a postage stamp. Why her, when they could have had someone like Anastacia??! At least she has an opinion. Nicole is like a frigging Stepford wife.

Oh dear. This is definitely my least favourite panel combination so far. Not one redeeming feature at all.

I didn't say people voted for Nicole, i said she coached Krajik to second place. Any other judges input and he might not have made it to the final. So regardless of the criticism, she was obviously doing something right, hence they made her this offer.

As for "loser label" and "isn't massive in the UK". Kinda applies more to Anastacia than Nicole unfortunately considering the last time she topped the charts was eight years ago what with Heavy Rotation being such an unwarranted flop. Not that i'm anti Anastacia, i just don't get the hating on Nicole.

I just don't get the lovin for Anastacia, she had like two successful singles where she literally shouted at us with that irritating voice of hers and now suddenly everyone thinks she's a godsend?

I think you're underselling her achievements a little. She's had 12 top 40 singles, and 4 top 10 albums in the UK. Her third album sold over a million here (with the first two selling just under a million each). Not many solo females can claim that.

I know it's all personal opinion, but in my eyes she's an incredible singer. Taking away the power, she's a technically gifted vocalist.

However, in terms of X Factor, she's just a far more interesting character than Nicole. She's bubbly and fiery and can hold her own. I think she would have been great.

If only we could get Tulisa to fuck off....

I'm kind of okay with the choice.

However Simon treats the UK show like we are some kind of second rate trash behind the big U.S of A.
He leaves our panel and becomes 'head judge' of theirs. Okay I can just about make piece with that.
But he sacked Paula and Nicole for the simple 'shock factor' of trying to pull in more audiences next time around with more 'risky' and still even further more 'high profile' guests on the US version.

Then he signs Nicole, the one he didn't want for the superior US version.
Thats the angle I see it from, anyway.

A relatively safe choice.

People can bitch and whine about the whole X Factor US thing but ultimately ITV (and SyCo) needed a safe pair of hands for the panel and that's what Nicole is. She knows the format and knows what's expected of her. I suspect everyone will have learnt lessons from X Factor US as well. Its not exciting but any panel that still consists of Gary Barlow, Tulisa and Louis Walsh clearly isn't shooting for exciting.
