Very sad to see this, it was a good forum and the only proper place to discuss male footie players. I hope the owner decides to open a new site but making sure that the idiots who got it shut down are unable to sign up.

Anyone know what was actually posted to get it closed?

Hi everyone.

As one of the Administrators of The Back Page I can confirm that the site has been closed for "TOS violations" but Invisionboard haven't been courteous enough to email pico a more detailed explanation, though see Ollie2UK's comments, above, for what we assume was the cause.

Due to a variety of personal circumstances, I can also sadly confirm that the board will not re-open. (And that is, I'm afraid, a final decision.) It existed for more than a decade in its various forms, sharing a lot of members with FMF, and always remained a friendly place with lots of wonderful pics.

On behalf of pico and myself, I'd like to thank all the loyal members for their many posts and comments (several long-term members have already posted in this thread) and particularly people like EvaPalace, who helped keep the board going through its leanest years; mig25 and Soccer undies for their more recent help in moderating the board, which helped keep it going as long as it did; and our dear departed friend Scallylad who was always such an encouragement.

And an especial thanks to pico for creating such a warm and friendly place that many of us regarded as one of our online homes, and for all the time he spent keeping the site going for so long.

And can we all please make sure that all the future pics of Branislav Ivanovic's world-beating arse get posted here on FMF!

It's been a great ride, guys, but this part of the journey is, alas, over.

Those who would still like something similar could get in touch with the Admin on here (Ladsnet mostly) and ask if there can be a thread set up either as a pinned topic in Gossip much like the book thread or say the alternative music thread in audio, or over in View Dedicated like there is for WWE fans. It may not be the same but you can at least have a bit of a place to get together on here.

Really feel for pico as he put such a lot of energy into creating and then updating the site (all the indexes etc which he did manually ffs!). I remember the Lycos days with the likes of fowlerfan and britboy posting (I'm scarymon by the way!). It was a truly eccentric little backwater and a refreshing change from the general bitchiness of much of the net. Sadly, as it expanded, it lost that a little and gradually the usual suspects who simply must relate their innermost sexual fantasies on a public forum took over and, now it seems, killed the site off.

All the best to those who modded TBP and the (many) fun posters who managed to rub along for so long whilst remainging underneath the radar.

I'm gutted, but can understand the decision. It was a great site with some great people. Met someone who I consider to be one of my closest friends through it in fact, so I owe a lot to all involved in it really.

Feel so sorry for those involved, especially Pico too. all, but he especially worked bloody hard to make that site as good as it was.

I do like Dixie's idea though. Maybe FMF could do something if any of the mods happen to read this. Was a decent community of people on the Back Page and it's such a shame those few spoilt it for everyone.

Maybe the InvisionFree Staff thought TBP was turning into an adult site due to those idiots who couldn't control themselves... or for some... Erm.. Nudity (mild in any case) or whatever or even copyright infrigment.

Anyway, hope it will resurface in another place and/or time.

Totally agree, it was just a great site for discussing everything football and great pics aswell. Until, sadly what's been said above happened.
