Hey...ok well here goes.

For the last while I've noticed that sex and masterbating has become less enjoyable, sometimes painful. I also noticed that my foreskin was tighter than it used to be. Being the typical man I Googled it to see what might be the problem and of course the only answers I was getting was "it must be circumcised"! I don't want to be circumcised. Anyway, after further research I don't think I have phimosis. When I am not fully erect, I can pull the foreskin back. It only goes half way when I have a semi, but I can pull it all the way back when it is flaccid. I think the reasons for my problem is the frenulum. It is quite tight. When I pull the foreskin back while flaccid it pulls the head glands of my penis back with it.

Are there any doctors here that might be able to help. I know it is something that would need to be seen, but I want to have an idea of what I'm talking about when I go to the doctor.

Because I can pull the foreskin back all the way while flaccid, and it doesn't squeeze my penis, just pulls the glands back a bit, would this indicate that I have a frenulum problem rather than a foreskin problem?

If it makes any difference, I don't have any STD's etc.

Thanks if you can help!

Not trying to be unhelpful here but.... have you considered just visiting a doctor?

Consulting Dr Google isn't really the best course of action - see one of many articles addressing this:

Your GP will have seen it all before (and been asked it all before) so don't feel embarrassed.

trouble is most doctors will just say, get cut. So not helpful.

The OP understands that this is one for the doctor.
But doctors often have boilerplate one-size-fits-all cures for all sorts of conditions and the OP seems a bit apprehensive that he'll get the standard circumcision verdict. As long as you're going to the doctor it can't hurt to arm yourself with some facts first (hopefully correct ones!) before being sent through the factory.

Its a real 'roll the eyes' moment when the first words from a patient or relative are "I went onto google and...", anyone can post anything online, so unless from a credited source like NHS Choices, tread carefully.

Your complaint isn't a speciality of mine so dont really know what to suggest apart from seeing a doctor. As well as your GP, you also have the option of a GUM doctor, most cities have drop-in centres with specialist nurses and doctors, the benefit of seeing them over your GP is they have less pressure that a general practioner and its their speciality. Hope that helps.

Hi. Sorry to read about your problem. I'm a GUM specialist but to be honest speculation isn't a great thing. I expect that most of us would recommend a circumcision for foreskin problems. Tight skin situations only get worse as you get older and you develop candidal infections more and more due to the tightness, sweating etc.

Phimosis is curvature of the penis and that isn't what you describe. If your problem you think is your frenulum then some clinics offer frenuloplasty on rare occasions but i don't think that would solve your problem long term. Plus messing with the frenulum is not ideal as it is important for pleasure.

I think you need to consider circumcision. You say you don't want it, but who does when they know no different?

You probably have frenulum breve( short)and may benefit from a frenuloplasty where yiur short frenulum is lengthened by a surgical procedure.

Best seek a professional consultation for an opinion so you can make an informed decision about your diagnosis and treatment.......

Why don't you want to be circumcised?

I had a similar issue, went to my GP and he referrred me to a Urologist who specialised in (I can't think of the medical term, but, erm) dick!
Was with him for about 10 minutes, bought some ointment at the pharmacy, applied as directed and no probs now.

PM me if you feel the need.

Wow...thanks for all the feedback! Very helpful. The reasons I was asking is I want to have an idea of what it is when I go to the doctor. I want to know what options there are, rather than him just telling me to do one thing.

And the reason I don't want to be circumcised is because I've always had it, and once its gone you cant get it back. If you're circumcised, you wouldn't really get it. It'd be like cutting off a finger. I'd only do it if it was a really serious problem, and it isn't.

Are you really assuming that everyone who's cut is happy to be so?

Trust me I'm cut and hate it so totally 'get it'!

The reason I ask, it that I was circumcised last year.

I had very tight forskin all my life, and I mean very tight so that I wasn't able to pull it back at all. It's something I should have had done years ago, rather that waiting till I was 24.

But it's done, and I don't see why people make such a big fuss about being circumcised.

Is your member inflamed, itchy or redder in color that usual. If it is it it sound like you have Balanitis.

Balanitis is caused by poor hygiene, skin irritation (IE, a change in detergents, soaps, shower gels and fabric of your underwear)

Potential irritants to avoid

If you have balanitis, urine is the most important irritant to keep away from the skin of your penis. Other irritants to avoid include:

soap and shower gel
bubble baths
baby wipes
latex condoms
lubricants
antiseptics
hygiene sprays

If you are experiencing soreness, itching, stinging or redness, start using a steriod based cream or anti-fungal cream.

In other cases it could be a bacterial infection. They way to treat this is to use anti-bacterial soap free wash and rinse with plenty of clean water (do not over wash or use to much friction).

And when having sex and masturbating. Do not pump to hard as it will be extremely painful, go at your own pace and do what is comfortable for you.

Your frenum could be super sensitive. In my own experience, mine has actually bleed while having sex, and was painful afterwards. Try not to be to hard in sexual activity, because this could happen.

Hope i have helped you in some way. Hope you problem gets sorted and wish you a speedy recovery and good health. Take care.

I had this problem a few years ago. I researched it for ages and eventually went to see my Doctor which you would assume would be the right thing to do. He advised me the only option was to be circumcised and as he was the Doctor, I believed him. I went ahead with the circumcision, only to find out further down the line that their were other options and I could have not bloody been circumcised. I actually love being cut though...my cock looks amazing and I get loads of compliments (don't mean to blow my own trumpet lol). I'm glad I am happy with it though as I'd be fuming right now otherwise.
