Haven't got the option this time myself. Can see the Lib Dems getting another spanking but we really need to see the Tories following suit if we're to be rid of them at the national level.

I will be voting, but not for hypocritical Ken Livingstone (London); great tax avoider yet complaining about others doing it.

But I don't know who to vote for.

The prospect of Labour loosing Glasgow City Council makes me moist, will be interesting to see what impact this along with the loss of the London Mayoral election would have to Millibands leadership.

There is ony one other candidate who coud get enough votes to be mayor; last tie out, I knw a number of people who woud have been committed Liberal supporters, occasional Labour but who were so horrified t the prospect of a third term for Livingstone thAt they not only voted Tory but forthe type of heritage Tory they hate mst. Needs must.

Absolutely YG they all are.

I'm picking the best of a bad bunch - but I've got 3 votes to do, and it's all mixed.

Aye... but sadly the current cabinet is not much better, Nottm City Council the only council refusing to open its expenditure books for inspection, and forcing through unpopular schemes

You have a good point though Duxk: The track record of other mayors across the country is not great, confer the current edition of Private Eye (Rotten Borough)!

Oh, we usually have half a dozen to choose from (with the same candidate running on two or three tickets!). In safer times I've lodged a protest vote by voting for some obscure party that I never heard of (God only knows who and what I voted for! lol_2.gif).

But since the radical right has occupied the Republican Party in this country the danger is too great to take any chances. The current momentum pushing this country toward a plutocracy is frightening (or is it kleptocracy?).

Fair point.

Kleptocracy, you're probably not far wrong there. Oligarchy perhaps?

Parsifal you sound like one of those partisan left wing people who says "Everything is Bush's fault!" eventhough Obama is just as bad if not worse. Its always "radical right" blabla, what about our fascist left wing dictator in power right now?!? Is he not bailing out banks, subverting the rule of law(medicare), inciting a race war (trayvon case), inciting a class war(buffet rule etc), shuffling tax dollars to his crony business friends(corzine, banks, all the enviro bs companies), moving towards another war in Iran, increasing the police state's power, spying on everything we do, transferring wealth from middle class to rich via the Fed's keynesian voodoo policy?! Why does that not frighten you?!

Maybe you just want your own form of corrupt government wink.gif If only you and your socialist "intelligentsia" friends would have absolute dictatorial power, you could use government force for good, right?

I'm trying to renounce my US citizenship right now, you should see how difficult the Obama admin has made renounciation. Despite me being Swiss/US dual citizen and not yet owing any tax on worldwide income! These types of rules on passports/travel are the 21st equivalent of the iron curtain that trapped people in socialist shitholes.

Back on topic: I'd vote UKIP. Farage gets it.

I concur; I really hope Labour lose Glasgow. The city has long enough been strangled under their industrial 'working men's club' approach to government. With even more luck, South Lanarkshire will lose too.

I shall be voting Plaid Cymru.

I'm hoping Labour doesn't regain control of Cardiff Council and ruin any chance of actually sorting out the problem with Welsh Medium education in the city

Pretty much everything that you wrote is erroneous bullshit. To go into detail would go off topic re: UK local elections 2012. But I will mention that it was the Bush administration that bailed out the banks and not the Obama administration. You need to get correct facts and stop reading right-wing spin.
