Well, I guess I should start by agreeing with Kelly-Ann.
Now, my rant: What a WASTE of 150+ hours I poured into this series.
The final 3 choices were utterly stupid. If the child AI is acknowledging that its 'solution' to the problem of synthetics ultimately rising up and killing organics ISN'T going to work this time, then why was it incapable of just butting out and leaving the galaxy to live out its cycle?
Why was there not an option to say 'fuck you, I'm not letting you control me by forcing me to pick from these options', and continue the fight? Perhaps then, my galactic readiness/war assets might have had an impact on whether or not you can survive the Reapers and force them into retreat/kill them (I had most of the assets from doing the side missions, no multiplayer play until I after I had finished, and by all accounts got the best ending so that was pointless too).
For what it's worth, I chose the Synthesis ending.
DESTROY was against my character's personality - I didn't want to commit genocide against the Geth and kill off Edi, especially when I had put in SO much effort to unite the Geth and Quarians, and got Edi and Joker together (Side note, if you pick this ending, Joker doesn't seem very bothered after the crash that Edi is gone either. POINTLESS!!).
CONTROL wasn't going to work, as Saren hadn't been able to control Sovereign, The Illusive Man couldn't control Harbinger, so how was Shepard going to be able to? He can't even stop Monrith from killing him during sex!! Plus, Harbinger always used to say 'assuming control' when he took over a Collector, which just backs up that taking control over any life form was fundamentally wrong, even the Reapers.
SYNTHESIS did seem to be giving the Reapers what they wanted - Organics are 'preserved' now as they are now part of the synthetics. I didn't feel comfortable forcing the galaxy to suddenly become part machine but what else could I do? The other options were just as crap! Basically, the game was saying 'You can't win. Everything you have done over the last 40 hours was for nought. You have lost.'
I got a strong impression that the Child AI was lying - the colours when it shows the Illusive Man taking control (blue, paragon?) and when Anderson was destroying the machine (red, renegade?) plus what it said:
'The Illusive Man couldn't control us because we were controlling him. But you DEFINITELY could..
..Destroying us will only bring temporary peace. And you'll kill the Geth. And you'll die'
Turns out to be a total lie because Shep survives the destroy option! Plus, why does DESTROY kill all synthetics, as if they're all linked, yet CONTROL only controls the Reapers, not the Geth or people with cybernetic implants?
And the stargazer thing after the credits? Further confirms that all my actions were irrelevant. Life went on, regardless. Way to further trivialise everything I did, Bioware.
So to sum-up what happened for me:
ME1 (interactive comic - PS3):
Saved Wrex
Saved the Rachni
Sacrificed Ashley (on the off chance I could shag Kaiden later on)
ME2
Chose Samara over Monrith.
Everyone survived.
ME3 - cured the genophage so lost Mordin

Thane killed by Kai Leng
Ruined Kaiden

Took Kaiden and Javik with me at the end, thought they had been blown up by Harbinger, but Kaiden got out of the Normandy after Joker and Edi.
So everyone survived. Except me, apparently. But I sacrificed every organic in the universes' individuality in the process. Great.
