QUOTE(Kev @ Mar 17 2012, 20:23) I really hope "Raising Hope" gets renewed.
YES! That would be brilliant, I'm shocked more people don't watch the show - it's teh funniest comedy out there (after Cougar Town at least).

QUOTE(Jonnycondom @ Mar 17 2012, 22:38) So is that "Revenge" programme any good which starts on E4 later this year? I usually get addicted to trash if that's what it is.
It's trashy but very entertaining and addictive indeed.

QUOTE(slayersw @ Mar 18 2012, 02:57) Ringer i think has just gotten better and better as the series has progressed. I just think it would be a shame to not be able to explore a second season.
Really??? I wanted to like it so much but for me the whole show just doesn't work.

QUOTE(jumpingjellybean @ Mar 17 2012, 14:20) Whats the deal with Alcatraz? Its only started airing here and not sure if I should bother if its going to get cancelled.
Any one like it? Its not very good although I was always predisposed to dislike it because of who makes it. Having said that people I know who expected to like it (and enjoyed the pilot) have soured on the show as its progressed. The general complaint has been that the pilot essentially sells the audiences a false bill of goods because the series isn't at all what the concept and pilot suggest it will be. Formulaic and dull have been popular descriptors. QUOTE(Kev @ Mar 17 2012, 20:23) I really hope "Raising Hope" gets renewed. I think Fox will probably pick it up as a safety net renewal. And if that happens it'll probably get a fourth season to push it through to syndication. QUOTE(slayersw @ Mar 18 2012, 01:57) I know i am in the minority, but i am loving season 3 of Glee. They sort of have to introduce new characters to line up the next (almost certain to be renewed) season. The problem is they aren't actually getting rid of any of the existing characters next year. The entire cast is expected to return for a fourth season which makes very little sense and just leaves the whole thing a complete mess. There's been a rumour doing the rounds that Ryan Murphy's intention is just to fold the rejected spin-off into the main show and alternate between the two each week. So week one would be set in the school with the Glee club and then the following week would be focused on the characters that graduate at the end of this year and then you'd be back in the school the following week etc. God knows if that would work out and I can't imagine Fox would be overjoyed about it since they rejected the spin-off multiple times...

That idea for Glee sounds terrible. As I said before there are far too many characters. Now we'd have to focus on some of them one week and the rest the week after. I think that would prove even more of a turn-off for viewers. I think as Smash becomes more popular Glee will continue to lose viewers. The ratings for Glee seem to have been on the slide this season.

Gossip Girl will be renewed (the producers confirmed as much a few months ago) so I'm not worried about that. I heard an interesting tidbit that if the CW chooses to renew Nikita then it will pretty much confirm it for a fourth season too for syndication. They showrunners know now, either way - so we just have to wait until up-fronts (or until someone books a new project) to know for sure.
I think given how well Nikita did last year, compared to the Secret Circle - I think it has a good chance of surviving, especially over 90210 and Ringer. If Ringer's saved then it will be because of Sarah Michelle Gellar, in a move that makes Murder, She Wrote's last renewal look easy.
Even with Missing's low-demo scoring, I think it will be renewed, unless it tanks in the ratings. It's a good show on at a ridiculously inappropriate timeslot.
I think if Body of Proof survives it will be down to its international audience and money - it's an OK show that needs a few tweaks, so it comes down to what new shows they have that can match it.
I wish Cougar Town had a chance of renewal, I really do, but the cast are all busy booking pilots and that's not a good sign. Even if they're seconds, that's not good. It will come down to the wire, I suspect.
GCB is actually turning into a really interesting show - obviously a lot were turned off by the pointless boycott, but it posted a gain for its second episode. A gain! That gives it a better chance at survival than others. Even if only slightly.
I've got a feeling that a drastically pared-back Fringe will return too, probably with fewer cast members and a much smaller budget.

Breaking Bad's air date not officially confirmed yet but I assume it'll follow on from the end of Mad Man and The Killing (which returns for its second season on April 1) so late June/early July seems like a safe bet. Don't hold me to that though. It will however only be 8 episodes long with a sixth and final season (but technically season 5b) of 8 episodes scheduled for 2013. The two-hour season opener for Mad Men is fantastic. Plus lots more Joan/Christina Hendricks this year and much less Betty/January Jones which can only be a good thing. Sticking with AMC The Walking Dead season three will be 16 episodes long. Probably split into 2 blocks of 8 airing a couple of months apart. This post has been edited by Mister R: Mar 19 2012, 20:33

Lets start looking at pilot development then shall we...
ABC Drama
A diverse drama slate from ABC this season which features not a single straight laced procedural but is heavy on soapy drama and more fantastical concepts.
Marc Cherry's Devious Maids is probably the most hotly tipped drama of ABC's development slate so far. Loosely based on a successful telenovela and featuring a cast of TV veterans it reads a lot like a Desperate Housewives replacement from the man who created Desperate Housewives. ABC's other big soapy hitter Shonda Rhimes is also back on the development slate this year lending her name to period drama Gilded Lilys but I suspect the Scruples remake might be the more attractive offer for ABC if Pan Am hasn't completely burnt them on period drama.
Away from the soapy offerings Antichrist has a big name behind the camera but I'm not sure it fits the ABC brand and Zero Hour from the man behind Prison Break sounds brilliantly over the top and has an interesting cast. Both Beauty & The Beast and Gotham confirm that fairy tales are 'in' right now but with Once Upon A Time already on the air does ABC have space for another drama of the same ilk? Shawn Ryan's Last Resort is currently my favourite of ABC's in development pilots. Partly because its Shawn Ryan and partly because it sounds like an insanely brilliant concept. Meanwhile 666 Park Avenue sounds a lot like network tries American Horror Story.
The full drama slate (pick your favourites because your guess really is as good as anyone else's at this point):
666 Park Avenue Supernatural drama about a young couple who accept an offer to manage one of the most historic buildings in New York where they begin to experience weird and unexplained events. Vanessa Williams (Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty), Terry O'Quinn (Lost) and Rachel Taylor (Charlie's Angels) star alongside the not unattractive pair of David Annable (Brothers & Sisters) and Robert Buckley (Lipstick Jungle).
Americana Drama from Michael Seitzman (North Country) about a legendary fashion designer, his business and his family. Anthony LaPaglia (Without a Trace) and Annabeth Gish (The Westing Wing, Brotherhood) star with Phillip Noyce (Salt, Patriot Games) set to direct the pilot.
Antichrist Roland Emmerich and Harold Kloser (2012, 10,000 BC) created drama about an astrophysics grad student who discovers that he is the chosen one to destroy the forces of evil. Max Thieriot (Jumper) leads a cast that includes Oscar winner Martin Landau (Ed Wood, Mission Impossible, Space: 1999) and Linus Roache (Law & Order).
Beauty & The Beast A new take on the classic fairy tale from Jonathan Steinberg (Jericho, Human Target) set in a mythical city where a princess is tasked with quelling a rebellion. Chris Egan (Kings), Darius Campbell, Ruth Bradley, Alan Dale (Ugly Betty) and Oscar winner F Murray Abraham (Amadeus) all star.
Devious Maids New soap from Marc Cherry (Desperate Housewives) based on a Mexican telenovela The Disorderly Maids of the Neighbourhood centred on four ambitious maids who work for the rich and famous in Beverly Hills. Anna Ortiz (Ugly Betty), Judy Reyes (Scrubs), Dania Ramirez (Heroes) and Roselyn Sanchez (Without a Trace) play the maids with Drew Van Acker (Pretty Little Liars) on board as the eye candy and the likes of Susan Lucci (All My Children) rounding out the cast.
The Gilded Lilys Period drama from executive producer Shonda Rhimes (Grey's Anatomy) revolving around a family who own New York's first luxury hotel, the staff that work there and the guests who pass through. Matt Lauria (Chicago Code), Blythe Danner (Meet the Parents), Brian F O'Bryne (FlashForward) and John Barrowman (Torchwood) are amongst the cast.
Gotham Drama about a female cop who, whilst pursuing a seemingly unsolvable case, discovers discovers a magical world that exists beneath New York. Relative unknown Megan Ketch stars alongside Hollyoak's Barry Sloane and fellow Brit Lennie James.
Last Resort Created by Shawn Ryan (The Shield) Last Resort tells the story of a crew of a nuclear submarine who disobey a suspicious order and become fugitives before declaring themselves an independent nuclear nation. The cast includes Andre Braugher (Men of a Certain Age), David Rees Snell (The Shield), Matt Gerald (Avatar), Max Adler (Glee) and Robert Patrick (The Unit). The Life Drama about a widow who is forced to step into her assassinated criminal husband's shoes in order to protect her family. Luke Goss amongst those cast.
Mistresses American version of the BBC drama that follows the lives and complex relationships of four female friends. Lost's Yunjin Kim cast along Rochelle Aytes (The Forgotten, Work It) and Jes Macallan. KJ Steinberg (Gossip Girl) is currently scheduled to run it but she's also scheduled to run Gilded Lilys.
Nashville Drama set in the world of country music focusing on one fading star trying to rescue their career and one rising star trying to sustain theirs. Written by Callie Khouri (Thelma & Louise) starring Hayden Panettire (Heroes) alongside Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights) and Eric Close (Without A Trace).
Scruples A remake of the 80's mini-series based on the novel by Judith Krantz about a luxurious Beverly Hills boutique in 1978 and the people who work there. The not unattractive cast includes Chad Michael Murray (One Tree Hill), Boris Kodjoe (Undercovers) and Gillies Marini (Brothers & Sisters).
Zero Hour New conspiracy theory drama from Prison Break's Paul Scheuring about a sceptical every man who gets swept up in one of his histories greatest conspiracies and a mystery surrounding the twelve apostles. Anthony Edwards (ER), Scott Michael Foster (Greek) and Michael Nyqvist (original Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy) all star.
