I'm hoping for more info on the Mercenaries mode soon. RE5's was a bit of a let down character wise what with the many palette-swaps, but I loved the coop modes. We'll see!

Messing bout with the demo earlier and first impressions i like it. I've only played through Chris and Leon's chapters and i'm not blown away but i'm not hating it like i did the RE5 demo. One gripe is that during Chris' chapter i found the view annoying, the character model takes up quite a lot of screen size and i was having to constantly move the camera because i couldn't see past Chris but i'm looking forward to playing Jake's chapter.

I dunno why it is, but I just can't seem to get excited for this game. I don't think the lacklustre comments from most preview playthrough's are helping much.

Well I'll play it at Eurogamer later this month and give you my thoughts on it afterwards. If it turns out good and you decide to get it Jonny, please invest in the PS3 version

If I am going to buy it then I'm afraid it would be a 360 purchase. My friend who I normally play with is a HUGE Res evil fan so he'd be mighty pissed if I played this with somebody else, plus he's always whinging about how we never play as many co-op games anymore.

The rumoured rather long game length worries me a bit, especially as I'll have uni work again to do soon

I played the demo today - completed Leon's bit and felt it was a nice throw-back to the Resi's of old. Very atmospheric.

Then I played Jake's campaign and thought it was shite. It doesn't help that there are tonnes of enemies with guns and you can barely see anything because the game is so dark. I also thought the controls were very unresponsive and Sherry's AI was laughably bad.

Same. I didn't mind Jake's campaign in the Dragon's Dogma demo but it was essentially a stand off with the Ustanak, nothing annoying like this demo. Chris's campaign isn't doing much for me other than remind me of Gears Of War. Leon's campaign is looking awesome...

Yeea, I've cancelled my preorder. I'm just not convinced enough. I'll play the demo again later and see what it's like at Eurogamer next week.

** Update** I've now deleted the demo. It's just awful. The AI is worse than RE5 (Sherry went running up and down a ladder, leaving me to get minced), the cover mechanic only works when it feels like it, bullets do fuck-all in Leon and Jake's campaign but the enemies go down after a single body shot in Chris'. I ended up stuck so many times after getting knocked down and not being able to get up because a dog-like beast kept running into me. You press R2 to heal but again, whether you have healing items or not, the game picks and chooses when you can do it. Utterly, utterly terrible. SO disappointed.

This is so annoying - Capcom certainly know how to make an exciting trailer. Shame they've forgotten what good gameplay is:

Aye, the negative reviews comment on the things I hated from the demo, which makes me think they're probably accurate. 4.5 might be a bit harsh, who knows. The IGN and Playstation UK reviews seem heavily critical too but give it around a 7.

The 39/40 review from Famitsu must have been the result of Capcom throwing money at them; there is absolutely no WAY this game could be considered almost perfect.

I think it's safe to say I'm probably never going to play this game. I just can't comprehend wasting 25 or so hours of my life to a game which is getting so many negative reviews.

I'm really surprised by that Famitsu score, I thought they were supposed to be a respectable publication.
