I've never been a big fan of Muse myself, far too pompous.
As we are now halfway through the year, I thought I would write my ten favourite albums of 2012 so far. These aren't in any particular order (don't wanna ruin the surprise of my end of year top ten list). So yeah, if you want some new music to listen to, go for anything off this list.
The 2 Bears - Be Strong Polica - Giving up the ghost Sharon Van Etten - Tramp Django Django - Django Django Orbital - Wonky Actress - RIP Hot Chip - In Our Heads TEED - Trouble The Walkmen - Heaven Alt-J - An Awesome Wave

I'm back! It's been a while, but the original king of the Alternative Music Thread has returned to his rightful home...
2012 has been a bit of a slow year albums wise, but I think I've heard my favourite three bodies of work of the year so far in the past week. First of all -
Bobby Womack - The Bravest Man in the Universe
HIS VOICE, still. Amazing album. I think If There Wasn't Something There is my favourite but it's all very very very good.
Then there's Azealia Banks, who continues to surprise me with her indefatigable ability to find new ways to describe her pussy and it's various flavours. Fantasea is her 17 track mixtape and it's quite ridiculous to think that all the brilliance it boasts is absolutely fucking free. I'm *kind of* excited about her debut album.
Finall, Frank Ocean. I was shocked and appalled to find only a measly four post thread about him here. Channel Orange is asdfghjkl. His lyrics are asdfghjkl. His voice is asdfghjkl. His sad brown eyes and full lips are asdfghjkl. His - okay, I'll stop now.
The second half isn't as good as the first but that's okay when you consider that the first half is one of the most epic (actual epic, not "epic" epic), lush, rich, spine-tingling etc. etc. parts of anything released this year. And the single cover is funny, lol

After a few more listens I really do fucking love that XX song now. It's just subtle brilliant loveliness.
Like the Oceans song FOR . I love pretty much anything Azelia is doing too, so thanks for those Rocky cause I ain't heard most of them before. I still can't really get on board with Frank, just not really my kinda thang, I'm sorry
anyway, time for a mega update on a couple of returns you might be interested in and some songs from albums I'm currently bumming.
First of all, Two Door Cinema Club are back! yayzles
as are Delphic, their debut is still one of my favourites to listen to at the gym,
(apparantly this is an Olympics song so not really a representation of their 2nd album)
probably my favourite song right now and easily the most beautiful song around, the new single from the amazing band How To Dress Well (if you haven't checked out their debut album yet, get on it!) (The final 30 seconds or so of this song are just wonderful)
Do you rememeber me telling you about that album from a band called Chromatics and that the album is an hour and a half long? Well I finally llistened to it the other day and it is fucking BRILLIANT. It's basically just really dark, depressing seedy 80's music. Apparantly the lead singer contributed a lot to the Drive soundtrack which probably says a lot. anyway, listening to the whole album was a hell of an experience, it made me feel really lonely n shit, but in a good way. This song probably sounds shit out of context from the rest of the album, but whatever..
I heard this on the radio the other day and loved it, if you're a fan of male singer songwriters then go for it..
and last but most certainly not least, the new Twin Shadow album is fucking ace..
I hope you guys enjoy at least one of those. bye for now folks xxx

Purity Ring are awesome. they're actually a side project of Born Gold (who released their kinda debut, Body Songs, last year). the other half of Born Gold has a side project called Kuhrye-oo, who released their debut EP earlier this year.
i listened to a stream of the Antlers' Undersea last week. i'm not really sure what to make of it... it's a good piece of work, i just... dunno...
