I don't know if it's an FMF-only problem or if it's all Invision boards, but every time I'm on the page to reply to a post or start a new topic, my processor usage shoots up. Whenever I go to another tab/window it goes back down again, so it's only when it's on my screen.

I'm using Firefox, but I've also tried this with IE9, and I have the same problem. The only difference is, whenever I hover over any smiley in IE, the frame (and its border) that the smilies are in gets pushed down. And I could spend all day hovering over them all and the frame just gets pushed further and further down.

And because of this, whenever I try to post of my phone, it grinds to a complete halt because I my phone's processor isn't that great and the issue means I can't post on my phone because it's painfully slow.

Anyone else noticed this problem? And can it be fixed? I like phone lurking. sad.gif

I'm using the full version. I've just tried the lo-fi version and it loads very quickly, however you can't make any posts on it. sad.gif

I'd be surprised if it's the actual smiley images as they're only 0.6kb each.
So it's more likely to be the way the frame is coded in HTML/ASP.
What phone are you using?

I'm using an HTC Wildfire. But the issue is that it shouldn't be using that much processing power in the first place, let alone too much for a phone to handle.

And yes, I think it's the way the frame is coded. I've just tried posting on another Invision board and I don't have the same problem.

And people say HTC's are better than Blackberry's... rolleyes.gif

Odd question, is it reformatting it to a mobile format? because on my old ericsson in Lo-Fi i couldn't post either. if you switch to desktop format or disable mobile reformatting, that might help.

It's coming up on my phone exactly the way it would on my laptop. But I don't think changing it would help unless there's an actual mobile theme we can change to. I've done that for my site, although granted I don't use Invision.

I've had a quick look at the HTML source code and I can't see anything at first glance that would be hogging resources that much. Unless it's something to do with the main posting box and it's just a coincidence that there's a bug with the smilies frame too...?

I'm replying on my HTC Desire S now and I don' t notice the problem. Strange unsure.gif

Edit, have you tried using the 'fast reply' button instead??? It doesn't quote what you're replying to, but it doesn't load smilies either

There isn't a specific mobile version of the site no, but it does remove certain formatting bugs.

Tiuri, maybe it's just his model or phone? unsure.gif

That's why I used my HTC phone as well. I'm not sure what Android version his Wildfire is running, but I doubt the basic browser has changed all that much ???

The fast reply is fine, but it's no good for PMs. And my point is that it shouldn't be using the resources in the first place, regardless of my phone performance. My laptop fan always goes haywire too because the page uses 30-50% of my processor. unsure.gif
