I'm probably going to offend a lot of game lovers by a few choices on my list, but I can't be the only one who has missed out on playing some games which are renowned to be amazing.

I think it's a general combination really of money issues regarding my age at the time, not owning the right console at the right time, or the games not really being a genre I particularly like.

But anyway, I'll start off by saying...

I have never played a single Final Fantasy game and to be honest I don't want to. Those kind of epic rpg's don't interest me and I really don't like the turn based battle system (except in the Paper Mario games)

Also never played any Metal Gear Solid games (I played about an hour of the first one when my brother owned it)

Also never touched a single Silent Hill game.

So yeah, those are my big three.

Beat that game fans!

Just go away Jonny and never show your face in here again! disgust1.gif
Honest to god I was never this disappointed in a human being.
Come on, off you go. shaky.gif

Yeah I played pretty much all the classics since the Super Nintendo. Yay me! yipee.gif
Well apart from some FPSs maybe... wink.gif

Come on Astro there must be a few others. I don't believe all of us in here could have possibly owned every console going and found the time to play all the biggies.

You still ain't touched Mass Effect either wink.gif

How is that a classic?!
(yeah I know Mikes just got a heart attack right now).
It's a bit too young for that, just saying.
You don't have to own all the consoles. You can pretty much ignore the X-Box cause Halo aside that console didn't produce any classics you couldn't play elsewhere.
If we're talking one game per franchise you can also get by with one Nintendo console cause let's face it Nintendo hasn't created a great new franchise in aaaaaaaaaaages.
So there, a Nintendo console and a PS is all you need. smile.gif

I should probably change the word "classic" to maybe greats then or something?

I mean games that were generally well favoured with critics and fans alike upon release, and this does include modern games too that you can find on the 360 too such as Halo, GearS Of War, Fable 2, Vina Piñata biggrin.gif (I jest), I know they don't seem like classics now, but in years to come they are some of the games the 360 will be remembered for.

I'd say the Mass Effect trilogy is pretty damn close to gaining a classic status anyway, especially since the second one won GOTY at the Baftas.

Going back to what I said in my first post, I've noticed a theme. All those games really came out on the Playstation. I did own a PS2 for a short while so I don't know why I never played a Silent Hill game, but I mainly stuck to platformers, fps' anyway.

I think you'll find that Pikmin is probably one of the most recent (proper) Nintendo franchises, and that was ten years ago...
I've not played Pikmin actually. I missed it due to not having much money.

Will get the New Play Control versions at some point.

You know FPS maniacs are generally not concidered gamers right?
Jonny find your way towards the light, I fear for your soul.

On the top of my head classics are surely: Zelda Ocarina of Time (or any Zelda really), Super Mario World (or any Mario game really), FFVII (or any FF before XI really), Silent Hill 2, Resident Evil, GTA3, Metal Gear Solid, Tekken 3, Metroid Prime (or any Metroid really) Tomb Raider 2 and so on and so on.
And that's just games from still exsisting franchises, there a plenty which are unfortunately no longer with us. upset.gif

Hang on a minute, I know I have made some pretty shocking confessions so far,

but Michael, of all people!! you haven't played Pikmin?!? ohmy.gif ohmy.gif ohmy.gif ohmy.gif!!

I'm not a FPS maniac Astro, but I think you must be incredibly naive to just shrug them off completely.

There have been some astounding FPS games over the years.

I did think of Pikmin actually but because hardly anyone knows it and because Nintendo has neglected the franchise for so long (trashy Wii converts aside) I didn't include it.
I played and loved it, I replayed it not so long ago actually. thumbsup.gif

I'd never.
I have very few but all the more high quality FPS. Turok was an amazing franchise and I loved XIII.

Should be added to my "Games nobody else played" thread, so amazing yet so shamefully overlooked. shaky.gif

I'm by no means a 'proper' gamer (what I mean by that I don't really know) but anywho.
I've never played any Final Fantasy (except for 5 minutes becasue I got it free when I got my 360). None of the Silent Hill games or Metal Gear Solid.
Or Tomb Raider (which I feel like I'm missing out on...)

There are bound to be loads, but can't really think.

I have never got into the whole Football Manager thingy, which was very popular during 6th form...

Astro, why don't you just pick up Mass Effect 2 for your ps3?

I know a lot of people who have played that without ever playing the first one and managed just fine.

I would say Half Life is a pretty good example of a classic FPS.

I have never really touched a Gears of War game. Never touched a COD.

Never played Pikmin.

Never played a Legacy of Kain series- except for blood omen 2.

Never played Assassins Creed.

I don't really trust anyone who hasn't played Final Fantasy 9 and/or agrees that it's the best.
