The new album is yet to be revealed the title of or release date of, but his "comeback" (or for us hardcore fans, what comeback; he never went anywhere!) is on it's way.

Some are heralding it as his return to the "Savage Garden" sound of the 90's.

Here's a 40 second snippet that he posted earlier today:

*depending on the attention this gets i'll be back with more updates when i get them!*

Won't be a hit in the UK, it'll sink without a trace and the album will come and go. And that's a shame because he's great. I didn't like Savage Garden much but I really like his solo material. Can't wait for the full version of this. And the b-side is a cover of Madonna's Angel, his third Madonna cover!

Probably true, the charts nowadays are full of new artists that have all come around at the same time. Established acts, however good their material is don't register with the mainstream music buyers. Even the likes of Britney, her singles and albums now come and go.

Ooh I like it! I didn't know he was planning to release anything this year, so this has been a nice surprise. smile.gif

The clip sounds more "Darren Hayes: Spin" than "Savage Garden", but I like it nonetheless. His last two albums have been phenomenal, I hope this new album will be just as good!

I really like what I can hear of it, but I never think you can tell much from little snippets like this... Nevertheless, I bloody love Darren Hayes and am beyond excited about the promise of a new album. I know it'll almost certainly be one of the best pop albums of the year.

As fruitylicious said, his last two albums are amazing, they're both so good. The Tension and the Spark is a seriously brilliant album, should have been much bigger. I think of it as a better 'Ray Of Light'! And This Delicate Thing We've Made, though less consistent, contains at least 1 album's worth of brill songs. Casey is one of my favourite songs ever smile.gif

He's great live too, seen him on his last three tours, and he's a fantastic live singer and just really warm and funny with the audience. I saw him at Newcastle on the Time Machine Tour, when the swan wouldn't fit in the venue, and so to make it up to us he gave us some exclusive performances, including a brilliant cover of Ray Of Light.

Anyone else got the We Are Smug stuff too? The album as a whole is a bit hit and miss, but the first two songs, Look What We've Started and Words That I Can't Say, are among Darren's best songs imo.

The more i hear it the more i think it's a "Delicate" "Spin" combo.

And I love the We Are Smug stuff... what am I saying, I love it all!

Here's a teaser for the actual Video out Jun24: (hope he don't mind me linking to it!)

I downloaded the single off iTunes last night and it's about 30 seconds longer than the video version.

The b-side (a cover of Madonna's "Angel) is really good. smile.gif

I know, they cut the orchestral end off; they did it with Casey too!
The orchestra adds that tinge of sadness to the ending...

And Darren doing Madge again... Always sounds great!
