Hello all. I've had my MacBook for a little over a year now. It's been a fantastic computer. However, I recently dropped it a couple inches onto a tile floor. It worked fine immediately after for at least half an hour (it was on when I dropped it). I used Youtube on it and everything. However, later that day I started it up when I got home, simply shut it, and took my dogs for a walk. When I got back in, it was almost too hot to pick up and the fan was whirring horribly. It also would not go past the start-up screen (white with Apple logo and loading dial). I took it in to a repair shop. After running simple tests (which I re-ran myself), they said there was nothing wrong with the hardware, but it still wouldn't go past that screen (there was absolutely no fan whirring or overheating--that seems to have gone away on its own).
My sister's boyfriend managed to get my computer back to exactly the way it was, thankfully. I didn't lose any files; all I had to do was re-set my wallpaper. However, since it was recovered, it hasn't been recognizing my iPhone. I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes twice, and it recognizes the phone then, but as soon as I quit it and try to reuse it, it no longer recognizes the phone. My phone still charges when plugged in to the USB, but I can't transfer any purchases from it, and when I try to play one particular song from the library on the harddrive, the computer freezes. It is also warning me of some websites' verification codes not being recognized when I try to access my school e-mail. This was never an issue before.
It also takes a bit longer to start up, and a couple times before I dropped it, my wallpaper would have disappeared for absolutely no reason. Not only that, but (again, before being dropped) any time I started it up, it would have trash in its bin, even though it was empty before shutting down. I'm wondering if there's not some sort of irritating bug at work here, deleting minor permissions and recognitions. I don't download any dodgy e-mails, but I am guilty of downloading porn now and again (maybe a scene a month), but I store all of that on my external harddrive (which has never had any problem, though I'm aware that if I'm downloading it onto my MacBook first that something could always slip in).
Should I take this to a MacStore to get it figured out, or do any of you have an idea of what's happening? Also, I'll be getting a new iPhone in less than a week, and I'll update if it recognizes the new phone every time. Also--the computer was brand-new from the store, not a refurbished job. Thanks everyone!
