Would you care to elaborate on that comment?

How have the new films been bad? I thought they brought a great realism to the comic books.

They’re soulless, joyless, pretentious films too concerned with being dark and ‘real’ and having characters deliver endless boring monologues to worry about entertainment. And frankly they’re horribly directed and written.

I could apply all that to Burton's myself. Though I agree on some points.

I’m not a particularly big fan of Burton’s take on Batman either although I would argue that describing them as joyless is a bit of a stretch particularly Batman Returns.

All this Batman talk has convinced me watch the Dark Knight again, it is a masterpiece.
Got to say I totally trust Nolan and co with The Dark Knight Rises, casting Tom Hardy could be a masterstroke.

That show was awesome. grindance.gif
It was probably the closest to the comics as any comic adaption ever was.
Comics in the 60's actually were like that.

Not really although I admit it has a certain charm and is at least fun to watch.

Truth be told I think the best adaptations of Batman have so far come in animated form and for my money Mask of the Phantasm remains the best Batman film released to date. Oddly though I think despite having a brilliantly cinematic feel to it on paper I don't think Batman lends itself particularly well to film although I can't really identify any reason for that.

They would probably have been better off getting Julie Newmar or Lee Meriwether in for it than Hathaway.

On that note I'm not sure I get all this Hathaway hate. I'll agree that she doesn't strike me as an obvious or even good choice for Catwoman but the general level of dislike for the woman seems a bit odd.

I like her. smile.gif
Can't really picture her as catwoman just yet but am willing to be proven wrong.

I don't hate Hathaway, I just can't get excited about her. I'm sure it'll be interesting though, whatever they do.

Paz de la Huerta would've made an excellent Catwoman. She just has that dirty quality, and I mean that as a massive compliment.

Are people actually aware that catwoman is nothing like Michelle Pfeifer in the comics and a rather plain everyday sexy not quite so evil as pretending to be thief who happens to be flirty?
There is not much darkness or even depth going on with her, she's is pretty straight forward.

Fuck that, they need to do something Pfeiffer-esque with her.

Well yeah, but the point is you don't have to stick to the comic as gospel. There are entire series that I don't particularly care for (I mean Nightwing? Hello?) and wouldn't like to see on screen. Plus the whole lot is generally canon, so Pfeiffer's catwoman is equally as relevant a comparison as anything in the comics, particularly after all these years.

Also Rocky...good call. Paz de la Huerta would be decent indeed.

In fairness at this point there are multiple takes on Catwoman

Interesting call!

I've watched The Dark Knight at least half a dozen times and anyone who doesn't find it exciting is, frankly, probably dead. Stunning, brilliant action and well acted. Again, I have no reason to think that Nolan won't do it again!
