Question about voice chat...

I never bothered with it. But now in Forza4 online games and lobbys, everyone else has it. I can hear them through the TV speaker but only like they're mumbling. Can't tell what they say.
Do you need a headset to decode the voices or something? IE: can you only hear the chat through the headset not the main speakers?

The chat gets muffled through the TV as it's playing together with the game audio. It's not encoded or anything. Unless someone is shouting it's difficult to hear. However, it all becomes clear as crystal (well near enough) when listening through a headset.

There's a system setting dealing with voice chat here. I think if you have kinect you can use that or a headset. A headset works much better in my experience.

Holy crap I looked at their website and their top model costs $ 270

I'm simply using the basic wired headset that connects to the controller (I think it's included, isn't it). I thought about getting a wireless one, but that'd be yet another thing that I have to keep charged and I don't use headsets that often anyway.
