QUOTE(alaskabob @ Sep 22 2010, 18:50) let the right one in but there is going to be a crappy remake out soon
Do you mean the crappy remake which is actually getting really good reviews? A remake doesn't always mean crap, I felt 'Let the right one in' was good but really overrated and is not really horror. Try the french film 'Inside' it is brilliant. This post has been edited by madpower: Sep 22 2010, 18:18

QUOTE(Sam Hain @ Sep 22 2010, 16:02) QUOTE(AlexKidd @ Sep 22 2010, 11:07)
The original version of 'The Haunting' with Deborah Kerr is pretty creepy on a psychological level.
Deborah Kerr is in The Innocents. It's Claire Bloom and Julie Harris who are the female leads in The Haunting. Both films are very good (if you don't mind atmosphere rather than shocks). Ah yes, cheers Sam, I was getting my wires muddled there. I was thinking of The Haunting, but The Innocents is very good too. The Exorcist is good, but has been unfortunately diluted by the countless parodies it inspired.

QUOTE(Rocky Raccoon @ Sep 22 2010, 21:09) Has anyone seen Martyrs?
It's a newish (2008?) French film and it's meant to be fucking nuts.
Yup I have and it certainly is! It's a very hard watch, but it's actually impossible to take your eyes away. Anybody seen A Serbian movie yet?

QUOTE(Rocky Raccoon @ Sep 22 2010, 21:18) I want to see it. They're doing a glossyHollywoodremake, too. Possibly with Kirsten 'Bella Swan' Stewart attached.
D'you mean A Serbian Movie or a serbian movie?
The former. The one which is meant to be completely fucked up anyway (and possibly features a man shagging a baby)

I really get off on torture porn, so the chances of you being in my pants by the end of the first night are very high.

QUOTE(BillyBuddSailor @ Sep 22 2010, 21:17) Paranormal Activity, it fucked my mind for days.... couldn't sleep looking at the open door the night I saw it
Agreed on The Last Exorcism, such a pile of crap!
Paranormal Activity was as bad as The Last Exorcism. All these so-called "real" horror films (Blair Witch, Paranormal Activity, The Last Exorcism) are all a pile of crap. At the end of each of these movies my reaction was "Was that it?" Overhyped rubbish! I saw the trailer for Let Me In and it's identical to Let The Right One In (except the cast). The script's identical (as it's written by the original screenwriter) and it looks as if it's been shot in the same location. I don't care how good the reviews are I don't want to watch a duplicate movie.

QUOTE(Rocky Raccoon @ Sep 22 2010, 22:11) Ok, so I just looked A Serbian Film up on wikipedia and read the full plot synoposis and it sounds terrible! It was actually fucking hard to read! Look it up now, just to appall yourself.
I have done this very thing and I just couldn't help but laugh out loud at how completely ridiculous it sounds. The erect penis going into the eyesocket sounds hot.

Me and my sister tried watching Silence of the Lambs when I was around 11, but had to stop once Buffalo Bill got that woman into the back of his van and checked her measurements. I'm actually looking forward to Scream 4 ( or Scre4m.... ). It's out in April, isn't it?

i'd suggest beginning your education into the world of 'horror movies' with the original 'slasher', 'Psycho' by Hitchcock.
I wouldn't say any horror films are too scary, however 'Dead Silence' was tragic yet it managed to scare me and my friends, haha.
The Scream Trilogy are amazing, but maybe not scary, the first one's rather and the second's suspenseful.
I like the old Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Friday the 13th, but as proven throughout film history, their sequels kind of suck.
