I saw a review of it and it didn't look all that great to be honest. More like another add on rather than a sequel.
It's apparently really short and graphic wise not very spectacular and combat system is also critizised.
What to make of it?

Well if I am being very critical, the story def is not as good as the first. And the thing I dislike perhaps the most is that all of your party has their own "homes" all over the city. So you miss that feeling of everyone coming together at the campsite. And keeping tabs on your relationships with everyone and the group feel of it. Plus the gifts are automatic this time you dont have to learn about each party member to know what kind of gifts they might like. You find or buy a gift and it automatically triggers the cutscene giving it to the right person next time you visit their "home".
So I didnt really feel like I knew some of them as well as I got to know my party in the first game. Then you have the combat system. Personally I like the graphical effects of spells and the fighting stances etc especially as a mage it "feel" like I am a badass and especially the effects of the autoattacks on the different staffs the lightining effects during fights were definetly more fun than the previous games and more intricate. That said its much easier fighting wise more button mashy, you really dont have to use that many tactics. I soloed the High Dragon after I accidentally let my party die. Granted i did my first playthrough in normal. But the final battle even I didnt feel like any of my party could possibly die. I just destroyed it all.
Storywise it is very dissconected, very much the "middle movie" of a trilogy fel too it. Most of it is told as a flashback scene as one of your party members is being Interrogated about something. And as the game progresses you find out what hes being interrogated about. By the end its all setup for some big battle apparently saved for the third game. So I did feel kind of letdown there. But, that said I had fun with it, and I will play again as a Warrior and try some different things especially since I missed most of the DLC stuff that playthrough since i got him near the end.
