"Dummy" - An interesting but extremely low-budget story of two teenage brothers forced to look after each other after their mother's suicide. For its shortcomings (script is quite cliche and some of the acting a bit ropey) the story is interesting enough and Aaron Johnson in the lead role shows he's not just a pretty face (although FYI, he does spend around roughly a third of the film's running time wandering around with his shirt off). Worth a watch.

"Hunky Dory" - A 1970s-set comedy/drama starring Minnie Driver as a music teacher who tries to inspire her students over the course of a very hot Welsh summer. Its basically one big nostalgia trip but the cast are good, well scripted and beautifully shot, with a great soundtrack and plenty of totty in the shape of Aneurin Barnard, Tom Rhys Harries, etc. Recommended!

Talking about a nostalgia trip, I watched

Schatjes

* Judging by the cover its English title is Army Brats. Its director passed away last week and this was one of his biggest hits. It's a weird movie, but it was a big hit in the Netherlands. The entire look is very dated, even though it's not that old. Is a movie from 1984 old??? I still like it *

Watched Killer Joe last night.

Was really entertaining, darkly hilarious and Matthew was amazing as Joe.

Plus it has the best blow job scene, like ever.

Just watched the film Sleeping Beauty.

Really really odd, quite compelling to watch though.

The Lucky One

* Fairly standard love story with some but not enough shirtless Zac Effron *

Was that the Jean Cocteau version? If so I thought that was a cool movie with great imagery, I've watched it a few times.

It's the version with Emily Browning in, where old men do rude things with her as she sleeps.

I saw Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World last night.

Wasn't too bad at all, actually made me well up at one point too. The second half of the film is very deadpan and solemn. I wasn't entirely convinced of the relationship between the two leads though. I felt like the film just automatically assumed weveanted wanted them to get it on just because they're there as the main characters.

The Whistleblower - Hardhitting, interesting and gripping. Patters out a few times and plot holes are easily indentified.
Weisz leads the cast solidly. I wanted Viola Davis to pop up, somewhere but she didn't.

American Reunion

* As much as I loved the original movies, I didn't expect this to be any good, but it was. It was very good in fact. All the original cast members reunited and even though it's a much more bittersweet experience, it's still magic to see them together *

Watched "Like Crazy" earlier and really enjoyed it. It was nice to see a realistic portrayal of difficulties in a relationship.
