Rumour

German tabloid [The] Bild, has an article that says the Nintendo 3DS will go on sale in Japan on November 11. It goes on to say that it will then "probably" go on sale in Europe in spring 2011 and is priced at €200. Release info. for North America is not mentioned.

Bild also lists launch titles for the Nintendo 3DS: Mario Kart 3D, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, and Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle.

This ties in with a Japanese peripheral maker who tweeted that his company's products for 3DS will be on sale then. Naturally, this tweet was then removed.

So if the UK price is in line with Europe it will end up costing about £170

Add on tax and evils and I reckon maybe.. £179 or £189... It's so hard to judge as they never make their consoles that expensive as they want them to be inclusive and not a prestigious, over priced item.. But the tech is new to the market so I can only "best guess"...

I really do hope it's amazing for that price since you can get most of the actual consoles for that price or cheaper and it could put people off buying them, though I doubt it.

I wonder what innovation Nintendo will come up with next that the other companies will have to try to match.

Still I am a Nintendo boy, I've had the NES, the Super NES, N64, Gameboy, Gameboy Colour, Gameboy Advance, Gamecube, DS, Wii and so I will no doubt save my pennies together so I can get the 3DS too

It's somewhat interesting that, from the games we have seen, only one appears to be aimed at a more casual market - hell even the stylings and colours of the 3DS scream "hardcore gamer". This, to me, makes me wonder how long Nintendo will keep pumping out DS games aimed at the casual market and older people with XL/LL DSes.

The games:
http://kotaku.com/5650702/watch-almost-eve...-game-in-action

It's like a Gamecube in your pocket.

ALSO

The company revealed at its 2010 press conference earlier today that the 3DS will have its own Virtual Console, from which you'll able to download both Game Boy and Game Boy Advance titles.

The Nintendo 3DS comes bundled with a charger stand (see the vid - it's pretty ace), an AC adapter, a 10cm Nintendo 3DS touch pen, a 2GB SD card, six augmented reality cards as well as instruction booklets.

According to Nintendo, the new functions include a slide pad, a motion sensor and a gyro-sensor.

The portable will have parental controls like the Nintendo DSi and the DSi XL portables before it.

It is possible to play games downloaded off the 3DS's Virtual Console as well as games downloaded onto a Nintendo DSi and DSi XL. The Nintendo 3DS works with game cartridges in the Nintendo DS series.

The Nintendo 3DS is 134mm by 74mm. It is 21mm thick and weighs 230 grams.

The top screen is 3.53 inches and with an liquid crystal display of 800 x 240 pixels. The button screen is 3.02 inches with a liquid crystal display of 320 x 240 pixels.

It has two outer 0.3 megapixel cameras and one inside the portable's clamshell.

The Nintendo 3DS has WiFi functionality.

There is a game cartridge slot, an SD card slot, an slot for the AC adaptor and headphones jack. Stereo speakers are on the right and left of the portable's upper shell.

Cartridges for the Nintendo 3DS are the same size as cartridges in the Nintendo DS line. As with the DS line, the Nintendo 3DS is powered by a lithium ion battery.

ALSO
I'm really rather excited for the 2 Resi games.
One takes the bonus modes from 4 and 5, gives them 3D and online multiplayer... umm.. imagine portable shooters online!!!!

Being able to download and play gameboy and gameboy advance titles on it is an amazing feature what with it being backwards compatible with the whole DS line as well. That's something I love about Nintendo, you could play Gameboy games on and Gameboy Advance, the Gameboy Advance games on the DS and Gamecube games on the Wii, makes them better value and doesn't make the old version and games obsolete like with the Playstation 3.

Also, just read that the 3DS will be released in the "West" just a month after Japan so we could see it as early as March/April

The 3DS will also stream 3D television programming in Japan when it hits there early next year.

Also, some of the functions are detailed in this promo vid with amazing Jpeeps.

Was that some kind of automated street fighter battle or something?

They have to implement something like this for Pokemon!

I reckon Pokemon will be the ultimate Tag Mode utilising game.

I'm still in awe of how good the first batch of games look. Imagine what treats will be had once devs get really under the skin of the console.

The games look awesome, especially if that video is anything to go by.

I wonder if the Pokemon Grey or whatever the name of the 3rd installment of the Black/White series is will be on the 3DS or whether they'll put out brand new games or even some remastered versions for the console.

The 3DS Web Browser can be used during game play, letting players hop online then jump back into games quickly. Perfect for checking those FAQ / hint and tips and, of course, FMF browsing smile.gif

The handheld also features an activity Log, which acts as a pedometer that tracks your walking while carrying the handheld! It also logs your gameplay time too.

I'm not so sure about that, when the console is fresh and we're really excited if we come on here whilst using it we may not be able to control ourselves...
