Developments are at hand. The service has launched as scheduled from Crystal Palace and Winter Hill. Manufacturers are ramping up now and product launches are expected imminently.

Can't wait for the Freeview HD receivers to hit the market, I've been searching for them for the last few weeks but nothing showing yet.

Anyway, I'm away from my Manchester home at the moment so can't retune my Freeview equipment for today's switchover.

However, just in case, I set a number of things to record on Freeview (e.g. The Queen - no jokes please smile.gif ), does anyone know whether my Freeview recorder will likely still be receiving Freeview channels or will my recordings all fail until I get home and retune?

(Apologies if the second part of this post should be in Techno Gossip!)

I didn't have to retune my TV today. All the channels came back on after a hiatus in the early hours.

Great, I can certainly do without those channels until I get back and retune.

I also wonder if the new Freeview receiver I bought for the TV in my bedroom will now be working. It kept on losing BBC1, BBC2 and BBC News when I bought it a couple of weeks ago and the guy at Comet said it wasn't faulty but needed the new signal strength that would be available when Winter Hill went fully digital.

I'm a trusting soul but will be hotfooting it back to Comet if it isn't working 100% when I get back to Manchester!

See the unscrupulous traders are beginning to think of cashing in ... reports of an HD Digital Aerial have been observed, existing aerials will of course be fine assuming that they receive Freeview ok following DSO.

They still haven't fixed the incorrect channel ID on 33. It says "ITV" instead of "ITV2+1". It's most confusing.

Hmm, I don't know what I was expecting but I don't fancy paying £170 for the option of watching an extra two channels yet. Maybe worth holding off until May at least when Eurovision comes round as the big first HD event of 2010. lol_2.gif Can't say I've ever been bothered about the Winter Olympics so don't mind skipping that.
